So, later in the campaign, my players will enter the Feywild as part of the main storyline. They will eventually receive a quest to obtain magical water from a sacred well in the west which will stop the necrotic corruption from spreading in this huge and sacred fey forest. Im thinking that the well will be within a sacred temple teeming with Yuan-Ti, who use it's magical power for rituals. But from a lore standpoint, would it make much sense for Yuan-Ti to be within the Feywild?
Naturally? Probably not, but a simple fix is to say that the Yuan-Ti high priestess opened a gateway to the Feywild. From there you decide if she is migrating her people to the Feywild, trapped in the Feywild unable to reopen the portal, looting the temple, or what have you. The hard part is any situation where the Yuan-Ti are freely moving in and out of the Feywild, due to Time Warp and that without Fey Ancestry they risk memory loss.
Having the Yuan Ti in the Feywild on their own doesn't make a hell of a lot of sense really. Could you have the adventure set back on the material plane where their is a rift/border to the Feywild. Perhaps the well has begun to appear every night in their jungles only to disappear again at dawn and they are poisoning the waters with their sacrificial rituals. The party could either step into the material plane from the Feywild or visa versa, to cleanse the glittering water and use it to heal the forest.
Is the well in fact a magical pool with a Nymph. Perhaps the sickly looking Nymph stumbles into the party's camp desperately seeking their aid. It could instead be a Dryad, whose ancient tree is dying from the spread of the waters poison.
Perhaps the waters of the well enable the Yuan Ti to evolve Feylike abilities where the leaders can Misty Step, cast illusions or charms. Perhaps the well is beginning to dry up from this use or these abilities are only usable while the well is present in their temple. They seek to find a way to make the well remain permanently on the material plane. You can use the temple map in Volo's and just change the interior description for ease?
If you want to have the Yuan Ti on the Feywild, maybe they have developed Feylike abilities/resistances from the well/pool, enabling them to live on the plane. Perhaps they are the followers of a Night Hag who has brought them to the Feywild to purposely corrupt the forest to spread her influence/power and wipe out the Fey who live there?

Good luck
It makes sense if you make it make sense.... perhaps it can become an extra mystery the players can investigate
