Can rogue formians exist? I know rogue modrons exist but do rogue formians exist? It's just a question I need cause' the party is gonna infiltrate a formian hive (I tried to warn them). Thanks!
I don't want this to sound snarky, and promise it wouldn't if this was real life instead of the Internet. If you're the DM, they exist if you want them to. Similarly, they don't exist if you want to forbid them.
If you do want to include them, it doesn't seem like there would be anything game-breaking in it, if that's what you're asking.
Just consider the meaning of having Rogues within a Formian colony. Sure, they can exist b/c it's a fictional world. Whether there is a reason for them to exist outside of combat mechanic potential...that's up to how detailed you want to build your world.
I'm pretty sure they meant "lower-case" rogue, as in "a monster that runs counter to the basic nature and flavor of the typical sort for that kind."
Anyway, from what I understand about the Fomorian, there could conceivably be those among them that are maybe trying to fight their inner nature and seek some sort of redemption or reprieve from their curse. It could be a single fomorian outcast or maybe even a small group of like-minded twisted giants. I expect that it would never branch out further than that as fomorians seem to be their own worst enemies at times and betrayal is sort of in their nature, so and movement that grew too large would probably collapse under the weight of some fomorian or faction of fomorians that got the wrong idea or took things too far for bad reasons.

"The mongoose blew out its candle and was asleep in bed before the room went dark." —Llanowar fable
@Yeetlord300, did you mean rogue or Rogue formian?
If the former, I apologize for misinterpreting. In that case, it could be done certainly, through some external influence that you make up. For instance, the long-term effects of a Geas spell. Or possibly the effect of a mind-controlling fungus, that even though it got cured, changed the outlook of one or several formians.

I was talking about formians as in the lawful neutral ant monsters that aren’t in 5e. Look them up they’re really cool.
