My usual group of 4 players are getting together with some newer players and my husband (one of my usual players) is running a one-shot. I own books but my usual group just shares my subscriptions on here so no one else has ever purchased books or anything. Aside from printing/copying spell lists for each class or all having to share a single book to look up spells, what can we do without service, internet, or an excess of money to buy books for one occasion?
Are you OK with printing stuff out, and are OK running with just the basic rules, for the new Players - especially as it's a one-shot?
WotC has released the Basic Rules, online, for free, in PDF format here.
That might be a bit constricting for experienced Players, but it is freely available, printable (even just sub-sections), and is less material for newer Players to keep track of.

Wow, thanks! I figured there was a really obvious solution staring me right in the face. None of my regular players will be playing their normal classes so I don't think the spell loss will be very noticeable.
...basically the title but for clarification:

It's quite helpful. It doesn't have ALL of the bells but it's way good enough for starting players.
