Hello Guys! I'm about to run the Curse of Strahd campaign but I have an issue. Part of my group already played the 3rd edition Castle Ravenloft. They still want to play the COS anyway but I really would like to make it an innovative experience for them. Does anyone had this issue and tried to adapt or lightly modify the game to make it intresting for this kind of veteran players?
Are you familiar with the Plane Shift: Innistrad PDF that came out last year? It takes the Magic: the Gathering setting of Innistrad and converts classes from D&D to that setting. The last section of the PDF deals with running Curse of Strahd but set in Innistrad. The adventure is only changed as far as certain characters and places are concerned, especially names, but the actual events are largely left untouched, as far as I'm aware. You'll be able to run the story while also subverting the expectations of those players that have experience with Ravenloft. Best of all, the PDF is free and relatively short, so there won't be that much more that you have to prepare for running this adventure.
I hope this helps!
