I've purchased the players handbook and the monster Manual (oddly enough I didn't find the DMs Guide too useful save for magic items) but I was wondering what else people might recommend as a useful tool in D&D Beyond? Mostly looking for compendium type stuff as adventures I'd prefer in print
Volo's Guide has more monsters than the Monster Manual.
Volo's Guide has EXTRA monsters, as in ones not mentioned in the MM, not more than are contained in the MM. But seconding this, as well as tome of beasts by kobold press, in terms of rule and lore books. Though Tome of Beasts won't be available in DnD Beyond and you'd have to private-homebrew all that stuff.

Okay, Volo's Guide has more extra, non-SRD monsters than the Monster Manual, and yes, there are more. Go check the marketplace.

I have the physical books in front of me and just hand-counted every single monster listing in them. Volo's has 124, the MM has 452. Which, if you had the physical books, you'd be able to tell, because the MM is twice as thick as Volo's.

Honestly I bought everything so anyone involved in any of my campaigns wouldn't come up against anything they couldn't make character wise.
