1) Yeah, the ally can be anywhere. It’s just the creature that need be within 30 feet.
2) You don’t even need to be able to see the creature. It just needs to be able to see and hear you. You can negate the disadvantage imposed by invisibility this way (this is true of non-mastermind helping as well, but masterminds can do it at range and as a bonus action).

Hey a new DM here,
Have a mastermind rogue with some questions about help and have done some googling and found conflicting answers.
1) do they have to be within 30ft of both the creature being attacked and the ally or just the creature?
2) If just the creature do they need to be able to see the ally they are helping at all? I.e behind full cover, in a different room, invisible etc
