So I'm relatively new to the d&d scene, currently running my second campaign, and am looking to be a bit more active in the community. I've created two campaigns in a homebrew universe called Calradia (yes the name was inspired by Mount and Blade), and am currently working on the next campaign, a high seas, pirate themed, steampunk meets fantasy hybrid adventure designed to be a bit more themed towards roleplay and exploration. Now a fellow DM and close friend introduced me to the concept of a false hydra, and after a bit of research I have decided I want to really do it justice by creating this Bermuda Triangle type mystery centered around the Flase Hydra.
Now my current plan consists of a section of ocean, or perhaps a chain of island, that has always been hub of conspiracy and mystery, I want to find a way to couple the False Hydra consuming ships, sailors, and settlements, erasing then from memory, with existing rumors and stories of mystery and danger around the area. I intend to introduce this around level 5-7 for my party, giving them time to ingrain themselves in the time period, lore, etc. While still keeping then low enough level to experience the mystery. I want to begin planting "seeds" early on to help make this area feel alive and give it the same infamy the true Bermuda Triangle has. Any feedback would be much appreciated, if you have your own False Hydra stories to share, or if you just think the idea is cool I'd love to hear from you guys.
Alas my short rest has ended, onward to adventure!
