I am trying to find out if anyone remembers anything about a gem in the brain of dragons. I played a game before where the DM ran that if you were the first person to touch the gem you had a chance of getting a boon of some kind from it.
Closest I can think of from old cannon is the Slaad soul-gem. There's also the thunderstone from the head of the thunderbird in a couple native american mythos.
It could be from the crystal dragons, I think 2.5e, not sure...
The German roleplaying game "The Dark Eye" has these gems incorporated. However, this is for sure an element of European folklore and fairy tales. Cannot remember a similar theme in D&D.

Any help would be appreciated.
Sounds homebrew.

It's pretty obscure but, there are real world writing references to gems forming in the skulls of dragons.
