Hello, DNDbeyond. (Sorry for my spelling and grammar. I am not very good at it)
So I am running Curse of Strahd module. There is a “mad mage” in the mountains who appears to be Mordenkainen. My players didn’t have a Tarokka reading yet. I want to introduce them this awesome NPC but the only way they will care about curing him is if he is a Strahd enemy (high chances that he is not). How can I base a quest on him or maybe you have a better idea how to interest them.
Mordenkainen is definitely an enemy of Strahd, the only thing in question is if he will become an ally to the party and help them. Just say yes, instead of random roll. Leave a trail of rumours about the Mad Mage so that it is clear he IS an enemy of Strahd. They may be more inclined to cure him when they encounter him if they know this.
