Hey there! We can’t do any of the normal Halloween stuff this year because of COVID, so I was thinking about running a Halloweeny one shot for my family instead. I have a 10 year old brother, so it will have to be somewhat family friendly, but he loves horror and scary things. Does anybody have any good modules or ideas?
Character are hired to find a 12 year old girl kidnapped by 2 women who live in the cottage in the woods beyond the fog. Only the cottage is made entirely of Candy and has candy themed weapons and traps. (Lollipop Battleaxe, Caramel sticky traps, Falling Giant Jawbreakers, cotton-candy quicksand, chocolate bunny golems, Giant Jack-o-lantern, etc) *modify and re-skin as necessary*
- Also the 2 old ladies are hags. And just as the players find the girl and the stroke of midnight hits, she officially turns 13 and becomes a hag herself completing their coven.
- for fun, if you use minis for play, you can make the actual cottage out of real gingerbread and candy for your players to move through. Although that’s pretty in depth.
Check out my Disabled & Dragons Youtube Channel for 5e Monster and Player Tactics. Helping the Disabled Community and Players and DM’s (both new and experienced) get into D&D. Plus there is a talking Dragon named Quill.
Based off of movies... Season of the witch, 13th warrior, or Event horizon come to mind. Movies make great resources for one shots. Most of them are broken into 3 parts more or less. I would see each part as an hour of game time, give or take. Some work on the DMs part but well worth it.
