Question about the light and times of day in Icewind Dale. When does the Aurora appear? It is at midnight when the Frostmaiden makes her flight across the sky, marking her crossing? Or is it during mid-day, thus providing the dim light that illuminates the Dale from 10am to 2pm?
Lastly, I also thought I'd ask if the moon and/or stars are visible, and during what times (are they visible during any part of the day, assuming no storm or cloud cover)?
I've assumed that the 4 hours of daylight in the middle of the day are caused by the sun being high enough to barely shine through the thick cloud cover.
The introduction says that the aurora appears around midnight, and the 4 hours of daylight are 10am to 2pm (around mid-day).

How do you play it if you are running RotF?
I've just started DMing that campaign.

I am running it. Twilight is 10 to 2 during the day. Aurora 11 PM to 1 Am. Moon is able to be seen. No starlight.
