I’m running a campaign where there is the soul of an ancient giant trapped in a crystal (khyber dragonshard) and he needs to get a giant body to return to full strength. Any ideas for how to get the fire giant body?
Instead of it actually being a flesh and blood body, it could be a massive construct, forged by giants, dwarves, a mad artificer, or whoever you feel like.

TheHumbug's answer is an awesome one. If you need a different angle based on your campaign setting, you can use a Lich or a Crazy wizard as a "Dr. Frankenstein" type character that has a body in some sort of stasis, or has built a body that would suit this soul.
You can also go the other way on this, and have them transferred into the body of a halfling for the lulz. You could then homebrew the halfling to have some sort of a "hulk smash" ability when angry or something...
Humbugs answer reminded me of Divinity Dragon Commander, in the game you could marry an undead skeleton. Problem is she had bone rot so you could transfer her soul into a machine, a frankenstein body, and then into a new body taking up the properties of a vampire. If your going with the construct route, you could use it to house the soul of the giant until a new container is available until ideally getting the body of the giant you want or even a bigger monstrosity if you want to have more fun with it.
What's his relationship to the giants? I'm guessing they want him back, but for him to return one of them would have to become trapped in the crystal instead (swap places). Perhaps the best approach would be to hear tell of an ancient iron-golem which guards a forgotten stronghold, and they have to get the soul into the golem instead? Or have a giant who wishes to be human sized, because they are obsessed with people and want to live amongst them, so then you're looking for a host for this giant. Or, have a legendary giant who fell in battle in the frozen north, whose body would still be preserved in the ice, which they have to journey to find.
I’m playing in Eberron and the giant used to be their prince and gave them power through fiendish bargains. If he comes back he might be able to bring back the giant civilization

does the giant body have to be "unoccupied"? can you have a giant pick up the crystal and their souls swap?

I guess it doesn’t have to be, but than it would be too easy for the giants
