Recently a friend of mine was talking about how they multiclassed a Forge Cleric into War Cleric, and how good the combination was. At first I thought he meant that he had simply changed subclasses, but no, he meant that he had actually multiclassed his Cleric, back into Cleric, so he effectively had two Cleric subclasses.
What do you think of players doing this, is it something you would allow in your games and why, why not?
I too think it’s so homebrew I’d prefer not to bother. Is he tracking the levels separately - like a level 5 cleric / level 1 cleric? The levels for all the benefits would have to be increased by whatever level the character was when it multiclasses imo- you’d have to do everything on purely paper.
I won't say "never" because it's always possible that some circumstance could occur IC to let me allow something I normally would not. But it would have to be pretty freaking out there for me to allow it.

WOTC lies. We know that WOTC lies. WOTC knows that we know that WOTC lies. We know that WOTC knows that we know that WOTC lies. And still they lie.
Because of the above (a paraphrase from Orwell) I no longer post to the forums -- PM me if you need help or anything.

I agree, it’s a lot of work and I don’t envy him or his DM the sheer amount of paperwork that must be involved. It’s not something I would ever allow as a DM, but I did find it intriguing that he seemed to be able to make it work.
Not on DDB obviously.

Hi,

Thanks

Generally speaking, no, I wouldn't allow it. The abilities are often either too synergistic, or they get wasted, so it's not worth the headache.
If a player wanted features from two sub-classes, I'd let them do a bit of mix and match to essentially create a custom hybrid, but not double dip.

Nope, never.
No, probably not.

I would allow it, but it would be up to the player to deal with finding a tool to manage it since Beyond does not support it.
