We just wrapped up Waterdeep: Dragon Heist. I've dropped sufficient hints and connections that I could probably run just about anything next and make it work w/in the narrative. Also, my in-game timeline doesn't include any of the Realms-based events that dominate the other modules, so timeline issues aren't a problem. Finally, my players will love just about anything I throw at them. The only setting that a Player specifically asked to avoid was Ravenloft; thus I won't be running Curse of Strahd.
So, I'm open to suggestions. I've got a 5th level party who successfully found the embezzled gold, made in-roads with both the Harpers and the Zhentarim (a neat trick) and are now ready to either take on the wider world or become defenders of Waterdeep. They consist of 3 Halflings (a Bard, a Rogue, and a Cleric of Brandobaris), a Tiefling Rogue, and a Human (noble) Wizard (Chronomancer)
I don't personally have much interest in Undermountain, unless I can tie it all together into a singular campaign plotline of some sort. You know, something other than "Halaster does this because CRaaAAAazzzzy!" Ugh Otherwise, I'm good with
Out of the Abyss (though going from Heroes to Prisoners would suck)
Princes of the Apocalypse (wasn't terribly impressed with my initial read-through, though)
Tyranny of Dragons (would flow nicely, but I've heard it's a mess and work-intensive)
Storm King's Thunder (don't know how easy it'd be to link this, but it looks like fun)
Tomb of Annihilation (I love the jungle angle, but found the whole 'death curse' and weird lich building a baby-death-god angle to be sort of bizarre)
Ghosts of Saltmarsh (I don't know a thing about this one, but I have it)
Descent into Avernus (my only concern here is that the PCs won't care much about BG or Elturel)
I've only played Storm King's Thunder, you can easily link to it by starting at Chapter 2 (Which is designed for a party of level 5's) as one of the locations for the chapter, Goldenfields, is only a few days travel from Waterdeep. However it's a very open world campaign so would require a lot of prep on your part and a party without someone who can speak Giant might also face difficulties.
Also, if you wanted to link to Out of the Abyss, you should probably start from Chapter 3 or 4 instead, as it'd be more suitable for your parties level and wouldn't involve your party being imprisoned at the start.
