there is a character who is ment to become a warlock (hexblade) at second level (first level is in Draco sorcerer) and was woundering how you would handle it rp wise. sure, the player could just add it to the sheet and be on their way, but wheres the fun in that? (and sure, they could start the game as a multiclass, but thats beside the point.)
Ideas: Some Sword in the Stone BS. They die and make a deal with the raven queen or some magic sword. They were given a sword by the dragon who gave them magic that is also magic, and gives them the power?
WAIT! THATS IT! The gold dragon blood donor gives them a sword/they get a heirloom sword that, when killing the forces of evil (bandits, goblins, ect) powers it, and the power is able to be used by the wielder, aka the hexblade!
Thanks for the advice, even though it had nothing with my idea, it still helped.
What type of sorcerer are they playing? Their sorcerous origin might play well into why they're entering into the hexblade pact, such as a shadow sorcerer diving deeper into their Shadowfell touched history.
Otherwise, speaking from a more generic perspective, the sorcerer might just be looking for assistance with unlocking their personal powers. Patron provides the sorcerer with the powers of the warlock, but the main reason the sorcerer entered into the pact might be more so for the knowledge/guidance that their patron is supposed to provide.
I have a Noble knight [Goddess the red-knight, so offerings are games of dragon-chess] Gold Dragonborn Sorcerer who started as Gold-blood Sorcerer, took some Wizard cuz.. Familiar and Rituals.. but then took a level of Celestial-warlock [ of Bahamut ].. considered self.. becoming Reserve Sergent-knight of the palace of the four winds, with Bahamut as Colonel-marshal of the Guard.

Itinerant Deputy Shire-reave Tomas Burrfoot - world walker, Raft-captain, speaker to his dead
Toddy Shelfungus- Rider of the Order of Ill Luck, Speaker to Friends of Friends, and Horribly big nosed
Jarl Archi of Jenisis Glade Fee- Noble Knight of the Dragonborn Goldcrest Clan, Sorcerer of the Noble Investigator;y; Knightly order of the Wolfhound
Draco sorcerer. The player is trying to build a Sorlock Sniper character (with spell sniper, crossbow expert or gunner, & sharpshooter) They plan on mixing magic with artillery, (either crossbows or firearms, depending on if guns are allowed, which is currently undecided) and l want to find a good rollplay reason to have them become a hexblade so early. they thought about starting as a hexblade then becomeing a draco sorcerer ofter lv 4, but that didn't work for them, because though they know it would be easier rollplay wise (like doing a quest for a dragon and haveing the draco blood be the reward), they really dont want to wait until 5th level for fire draco blood.
So, yeah, thats why they want to be a sorlock, and why i need help comeing up with how they could become a hexblade at level 2
you notice that Mine has two gods involved. The Red Knight and the Platinum Dragon. Because the red-knight is a goddess of strategy she expect them to Follow someone.. In this case the warlock class become the powers of a particular order of knighthood under the command of a divinely great power but not their god.
Or as this is a dragonblood sorcerer, that Warlock Order, could be the creation of a Ancient dragon living in the area. who is a minion of the PC's God.. so this warlock can actually receive personal visits, or messangers from the BOSS, or higher ranking officers..

Ok, that is also l great idea! Maybe the PC comes from a long line of dragon worshipers, and the sword is a "holy relic", This gives me some ideas! Thanks! (for example, the sword could have been made out of a dragon fang)
