Title. So, I don't want to use the version of the Trance that the Eladrin have from MotM, but I want to give them something other than their buffed teleport. My plan is to give them each season a cantrip, except for Summer, which would get the parry reaction. What do you guys think? Is it too much? Somehow too little?
What about an ability that unlocks at later levels? It can be slightly more powerful - maybe even a levelled spell - since you get it a bit later. Sort of like the Genasi, who unlock one or two more spells at later levels.
Read the UA Eladrin. They gave cantrips based on your season. Parry might be a bit strong, would it have limited uses? And what would the AC bonus be?
Looked over the UA from 2017. Chill Touch is necrotic and I'd probably change it out for a cold cantrip, and I actually don't think the Autumn or Spring cantrips from their UAs quite fit the moods of the Eladrin for those seasons, nor do they go with the abilities of the statblocks from Volo's. I was actually thinking about giving Friends to Spring, since they tend to have enchantment spells for their statblock, but I could see an argument for them to get an illusion cantrip instead... The Autumn statblock has a bunch of healing spells, so I was thinking of giving Autumn Eladrin the new version of Spare the Dying from the 1D&D UAs (I hate 1D&D, but has a few good ideas). Fire bolt does fit with Summer, but the statblock for Summer Eladrin had a parry reaction, which is why I'm thinking about having it replace their cantrip. The AC bonus is 3 for the statblock, but I have no problem lowering it. I could also give it limited uses.

I was considering this as a possibility, but if I make Summer more of a physically enhanced form, I'm not sure how to go about giving them a benefit at later levels.

The fact that you hate one dnd makes me happy.
I think it's basically hated universally, at this point. Some of the reasons I hate it are different from others, but I still hate it, lmao.
