I created a homebrew magic item to go along with a one page dungeon I ran and I submitted it for publication but it was refused. The reason was that the item I created was too similar to an already existing item. I don't think that is the case and I was wondering if there is a process in place to appeal this decision. I searched and I could not find anything on this topic.
This ring has 3 charges, and it regains 1d3 expended charges daily at dawn. While wearing the ring, you can use an action to expend 1 of its charges to cast one of the following spells:
Charm Monster (save DC 13), targeting only beasts that have an Intelligence of 3 or lower
The reason for refusing publication is that the ring is tool close to this-
Ring of Animal Influence-

I suppose the initial spell for each ring is similar, but they are different spells. The remaining spells for both rings are not similar at all. I created the ring to go along with a One Page Dungeon and I wanted to publish it because I thought other DMs running the adventure could use it.
Greetings,
I created a homebrew magic item to go along with a one page dungeon I ran and I submitted it for publication but it was refused. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!

Probably the copied text: "the ring has...", rewriting it in your own words might solve the problem.
That is probably what happened which makes me think the approval process is automated.
But my original question still remains, is there an appeals process for this sort of thing?
There is no appeal process, and the approval is automated.
I write homebrew and don't publish it. (evil, I know)
