Just a heads up, there already exists a spell called Blade Ward that grants resistance to piercing, bludgeoning, and slashing damage from weapon attacks until your next turn.

BLADE WARD
Abjuration Cantrip (Bard, Sorcerer, Warlock, Wizard)
Casting Time: Reaction, which you take in response to a visible creature hitting you with a weapon attack
Range: Self Components: V, S Duration: Instantaneous
You trace a sigil of warding reducing the damage done by one weapon attack. The damage reduced is equal to your spell casting modifier.
At 5th level the reduction increases to 1d4+spell casting modifier, at 11th level it’s 2d4+modifier, at 17th it’s 3d4+modifier.
