So in our game, I have a custom item that has three abilities, each with one charge, all doing roughly the same thing: Giving a +2 bonus to single skill check. (The three just provide a bonus to different skills.)
Can this be done in D&D Beyond? I can't figure out how to.
As far as I can tell, all effects/spells on an object use the same pool of charges (for example, a wand of healing). There is a space to put a note to your players, but I do not think there's a programmed way to separate the effects besides creating a separate item for each of the three abilities
Unfortunately not - the builder does not assign charges to individual powers/abilities, only to the item itself. If you wanted it to be tracked separately, at the moment you would need to create 3 separate items, each with one charge.
Ive done similar for my character who just got the Book of Vile Darkness - managed to roll some additional once per day spells. I ended up creating "pages from the BoVD" and have each allocated to a different spell, so I could toggle and keep track of them.
Also a good approach and I could see how you could do it here; the three 'pouches' of the armor. It's in moderation so I can't show you yet, but it's a set of chainmail with pouches for various types of book. You read the book for a minute, it gives you +2 to your next roll in either Religion (the holy text), Persuasion (the book about ethics) and ... erm, Performance (The trashy romance novel). That said, my DM made it for me as one item, so I've put it in as one.
And credited him, natch.

Thanks AK30. That's what I figured, but I wanted to check.

Wary the wizard who focuses on homebrew, for he can create nightmares that you wouldn't even dream of
