I've been trying to update some monsters from previous editions but there are some features that will be confusing to update to 5e. For example, how do I adapt a monster that's supposed to have levels in the Ninja class?!
Ignore the class entirely, look at what abilities the creature has in the prior edition and adapt those. Monsters do not really have class levels in 5e anyway, so it does not really matter what they might have in prior editions.

There was no version of it before 3.5 so I decided to just adapt the shadowstep ability from another monster.
You see the problem was that I was trying to update the Dragonspawn of Tiamat which came out in 3rd edition and some of the sentient ones had classes.
Just make dragonborn NPCs. Is that actually correct, no, but it gets the classes.
I figured out a workaround.
For the Greenspawn Sneak variants I should just add things from the Scout, Acolyte and Priest NPCs.
