I'm playing an investigative journalist character and wanted to go Bard because of Expertise and spellcasting. But Charisma didn’t make sense for the character concept, and trying to juggle both Intelligence for Investigation, Wisdom for Perception, and Charisma for damage alongside like Con and Dex to stay alive for more than 5 seconds just really was hard to manage, so my DM let me switch my Bard to use Intelligence for it's Spellcasting, Charisma based Ability Scores, Saving Throws, etc. instead of Charisma.
I handled most of the changes by creating a homebrew subclass (a copy of College of Lore) where I changed the spellcasting ability to Intelligence. I also manually adjusted my character sheet so skills and saving throws tied to Charisma use Intelligence instead.
The only thing I couldn’t figure out how to change was how many Bardic Inspiration uses I have. It still pulls from the Charisma modifier, and I’m not sure how to swap that to Intelligence. Any help would be appreciated!
I don't think there's any way to do that currently. Probably the best you can do is add a separate subclass feature that duplicates the behavior of the Bardic Inspiration feature but is based on Intelligence, and just ignore the built-in one.
