Hey Guys! I was looking to create a new character concept for a Celestial Warlock and thought the Pact of the Talisman would fit really well thematically. Unfortunately, as many people seem to agree, the Pact is just not great. So... I decided to revise it and see if I can make it, and it's complementary Eldritch Invocations a bit better. Here's my attempt at that (thoughts and critique as always are very welcome):
Pact of the Talisman:
Your patron gives you an amulet, a talisman that can aid the wearer when the need is great. When the wearer makes an ability check, saving throw, or attack roll, they can add a d4 to the roll. They can do so after they see the number they rolled but before the result of the roll is announced. This benefit can be used a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and all expended uses are restored when you finish a short or long rest (basically, this would make the Pact a sort of Bless for 1 person). Your Talisman’s Bonus increases to a D6 at 7 level, a D8 at 12 level, and a D10 at 18 level.
If you lose the talisman, you can perform a 1-hour ceremony to receive a replacement from your patron. This ceremony can be performed during a short or long rest, and it destroys the previous amulet. The talisman turns to ash when you die.
Bond of the Talisman
Prerequisite: 12th level, Pact of the Talisman feature
While someone else is wearing your talisman, you can use your Action to teleport to the unoccupied space closest to them, provided the two of you are on the same plane of existence. The wearer of your talisman can do the same thing, using their action to teleport to you. The teleportation can be used a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and all expended uses are restored when you finish a short or long rest.
Rebuke of the Talisman
Prerequisite: Pact of the Talisman feature
When the wearer of your talisman is hit by an attacker, the attacker takes psychic damage equal to your proficiency bonus and is pushed up to 10 feet away from the talisman's wearer.
Connection of the Talisman (since the Protection of the Talisman Invocation would now be part of the base pact, this is a new Invocation to make up for the missing one)
Prerequisite: 7 level, Pact of the Talisman feature
Whenever your talisman is not on your person, you always know its exact location. You can summon the talisman back to you with the use of an Action. Additionally, you can use a Bonus Action to see and/or hear through your talisman for the next minute. While you do so, you are considered blinded and/or deafened. Once you have used this Bonus Action, you cannot do so again until you finish a short or long rest.
