I am playing in a 2024 game and want to use the 2014 Outlander background that has yet to be republished. Someone was kind enough to develop a version of the background for 2024 rules and publish it. However, the background suffers from a wonky name: Outlander(2024 rules/T). It also was designed to provide a language like the 2014 version, but in 2024 starting languages are independent of one's background.
Because the background was published HB, I do not believe I can use it as a template to create a new background. I am having trouble homebrewing a look-alike that provides a feat as I see no means to add a feat to a background in D&D Beyond. I sent a message to the person who developed the HB background and am hoping they'll respond. Nevertheless, does anyone have ideas for how I can add a feat to a HB background or (better) copy the background of interest so I can edit it for use in my game?
