I got a magical item. It is a shard that embeds onto my armor. Once / long rest, as a reaction I can do the following
1) Reduce the entirety of damage from one attack to 0
2) Gain temp HP equal to my fighter level
Any thoughts on how to make this item? It doesn't have to embed to anything, but I would like to see a Reaction ability, with 1 charge, that details the effect. If it can automatically add the Temp HP to the Temp HP area that would be great too
Unfortunately D&D Beyond's homebrew system doesn't allow homebrew items to be created with actions that appear on the character sheet (including reactions).
You can get something functionally close by creating the reaction ability as a homebrew spell and building the item such that it grants access to this spell.
I am trying that. Is there a spell, when cast, gives bonus HP? Something along that lines that gives X HP per a specific class level? So for every fighter level get 1 hp. I can then attach it to the magic item.

Armor of Agathys, False Life, and Heroism are official spells that give temporary hitpoints (with False Life being closer to what you intend), but those spells scale off of spell level and ability modifiers rather than class level.
As far as I know, cantrips are the only thing that scale based off of class level, of which no official spell for healing (let alone temp hp) exists.
