So, I'm still new to DnD but I have put this together...
Brawl Tournament
No Magic, No Weapons, No Armor. Violating these rules results in immediate disqualification.
Each brawler starts with 7 BP (Brawl Points). A brawler reduced to 0 BP is eliminated and loses the match. Player characters gain a +1 bonus to all rolls.
Player Character Resolve: Once a player character is reduced to 1 or 2 BP, they may immediately sacrifice 1 HP to recover 2 BP. This may only be done once per match.
Initiative: Roll initiative normally.
On your turn, choose Attack or Grapple.
Natural 20 on Attack: Automatically hits and deals 2 BP.
Consecutive Attacks: The first successful attack deals 1 BP. Each consecutive successful attack against the same opponent increases damage by 1 BP (2 BP, then 3 BP, etc.). A natural 20 counts as a successful attack for maintaining the sequence but always deals exactly 2 BP instead of consecutive damage. Choosing to Block, Grapple, or Escape does not break the sequence. The bonus resets if the attacker misses, the attack is blocked, or the grapple ends. The next successful attack after a reset deals 1 BP.
Natural 20 on Block: Automatically blocks the attack and grapples the attacker. The attacker immediately attempts an Escape contest. The defender gains a +1 bonus to the Escape contest.
Natural 20 on Grapple: Automatically establishes a grapple (no contest to establish it). The target immediately attempts an Escape contest. If they fail, the grapple is maintained with its normal benefits.
Attack: The attacker and defender each roll a d20. If the attacker rolls higher, they deal damage according to the Consecutive Attacks rule.
Grapple Contest: The attacker and defender each roll a d20. If the attacker rolls higher, the defender becomes grappled.
While Grappled: The grappler gains a +3 bonus to Attack rolls against the grappled opponent.
Escape Restriction: A grappled character may only attempt to Escape on their turn.
Blocked Grapple Attack: If the grappled defender successfully blocks the attack (their d20 is equal to or higher than the grappler's modified roll), they gain a +3 bonus to their next Escape contest.
Escape: The grappled character and the grappler each roll a d20. If the grappled character rolls higher, the grapple ends. Otherwise, they remain grappled. The +3 bonus applies only to that escape attempt.
Tie Rule: If opposing rolls result in a tie, including when both combatants roll a natural 20, the character initiating the current contest (the attacker or the character attempting to escape) wins.
If anyone sees any holes in this, would you please let me know?
