She find children with their family kill the parents and modify the child’s memory to make them think they caused this. What the child thinks happened is they got their mother or father killed as one seems alive but is actually a red cap that the hag made look like the parent. The red cap abuses the child mentally saying its responsible for getting the other parent killed and physically while being its care giver. The hag will disguise herself to pretend to be their friend to hear how they are and if they are doing well she will go in their dreams give them nightmares drop them slowly more and more into despair as well as use the info to make any ally hurt them by manipulating things around them. The hag also keeps tabs with sending stones with all her victims she has a room with each current victim. After years of this dreams will emerge of a forest that draws them in where they want end their lives this forest or swamp is hers. Each victim becomes a tree its face etched on the outside of the tree in a sad state so many tress like this exist all over. She draws power from these trees their pain is her power. Each tree has a weeping face with sap as tears for they are stuck in a state where they live the saddest moment unable to move past it.
She does all this to cultivate the sadness make the tedder on the edge as long as possible so the despair is most potent till she
Now I want opinions what do you think of this hag I like it since hags love the pain and misery of others. I want to make hags that feed of different negative emotions but his was the first I made.
A back story for her is that she was a fey that hurt this reason can be anything a dm wants but over time she wanted others to hurt as she did. She found her pain could be power as she could weaken others with it.
Her forest if you enter makes all who enter feel immense sadness which effects saving throws and ac of allies as the sadness makes them want to hurt. I want it to effect ability checks but not sure how right now.
This is what I have so far but I like it and want to see what others think. I see it could be used as a back story for a character who had to deal with what it did to them learning about them later in story.

What's the story for the characters? How do they end up in this forest? Who is the child?

A coven of hags feeding on different negative emotions is interesting. It could also be that there are five hags in total each corresponding to one stage in the five stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, despair, and acceptance. Your first hag would drop in the "despair" stage.

One option would be to handle it like Shadowfell Despair in the DMG. You could use the table directly or modify to suit your needs. If you don't have access to the DMG, the gist is that once per day (or however often you want) the characters needs to throw a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, they feel Shadowfell despair and suffer one of the effects in a table during the next day.
