If someone could indulge me as I know there is a Lord of the Rings Role Playing game but is there a source that has translated LotR characters, magic items and anything else relevant into DnD rules? Specifically, if my question is not clear, what is Sting? Is it a short sword with detect enemy like effect? Is Aragorn a Ranger class or fighter? What level are the heroes at the start of The Fellowship? I have limited knowledge of the LotR game and I am failing my investigation check. I need someone with a higher Intelligence. Thank you!
Thanks! Perfect link. Had no idea about that or even OGL. I remember very well a Dragon magazine that had Robin Hoods character description and was heartbroken to see he was a fighter not Ranger, lol. It was the 1980's...I have a lot of catching up to do...thanks again.
Wow a 5 1/2 year old post is still alive...and fitting because of the love hate of the new show...I probably wont play 5e LotR as I can barely fit my weekly 5e D&D game in as a player plus I try to DM my students once a week...but I am still very interested in reading more.
There are a couple attempts at a tweaking of 5e towards LOTR, roleplaying in that world is something many hunger for... would love to hear how folks have been able to use the nice mechanics of D&D Beyond when coupling with these rules alternatives.

Here is a good place to start looking.

Are you excited to play the LotR 5e?

That's good to hear. Do you have the links mentioned by AaronOfBarbaria?

Sadly, now a dead link
