So the item in question has a description as such:
This axe feeds off the blood of its user increasing its power. As a bonus action the axes user can slide the axes edge across the palm of their hand taking 1d10 damage. Once the axe is fed the damage is increased by 3. This effect lasts one turn and has 3 charges that are refilled at dawn.
I'm trying to figure out if i can somehow have an activation effect which will reflect the damage increase or if i should just use the override function on the actual character sheet. What do you guys think?
There are no temporary effects in the character sheet in its current iteration. You would be best to create the item with your mechanical description and charges, and the player can note the +3 as needed for the turn they activate the weapon.
I don't think this effect will get used much. The person using the axe will take an average damage double the bonus damage. And the attack still has to hit.

Yea i that seems the best way to go about it. Thanks for confirming for me that there isn't a way to do temperary effects.
