My DM and I wanted to give my Trident wielding character a bit more teeth—there’s a fair amount out there about the Trident’s limitations. After a lot of research and back&forth we settled on both a new mundane weapon (a Great Trident) and a Trident Master Fighter feat. The two are independent, but the feat does mention the new weapon, which I know we’re not allowed to publish. So my question is would the mention of a new mundane weapon in the feat get it quashed by the moderators? We’re pretty proud of the feat, and would like to publish it. I’d welcome any thoughts on how best to proceed. Here’s the text of the feat as it is now:
Trident Master Fighter
[NOTE: This feat references a new weapon called a Great Trident (10 GP, 1d10 Piercing, 6 lb., Properties: Heavy, Reach, Two-handed, it is a polearm for purposes of the Polearm Master feat.) This weapon is not required for the feat.]
Thousands of hours in practice with three pronged weapons and experience in combat have made you a more lethal fighter. You gain the following:
- Attacks with a Trident or a Great Trident get a +1 bonus to the attack roll.
- You have learned to use the barbed points of the trident to great advantage. On a successful two-handed melee attack with a Trident or Great Trident, you may use a bonus action to make a Grapple attack as the barbs embed themselves in your opponent. An opponent Grappled in this way will take 1d6 Piercing damage if they successfully break the grapple on their turn. Releasing this grapple takes a bonus action, but causes an immediate 1d6 Piercing damage to the target. An opponent Grappled in this manner may also be kept and moved at a 10' distance from the Trident Master Fighter.
- When you attack with a Trident as a two-handed weapon, it gains the Reach property until the beginning of your next turn. If an opponent is Grappled with the Trident, you must keep two hands to maintain it, so the Reach property remains until the Grapple is broken.
Thanks for your opinion. I'm asking about possible publishing problems because of the new weapon, not really about the feat itself, but I'll have a think about what you said.

The feat is a little op. Maybe just the plus one damage and grapple? Any more makes it too good. And combine polearm master. It's just a bit too good.

It might be an issue. Maybe add a note at the bottom detailing the great trident.
