First, i dont know if i am placing this post in the correct forums since it's related to the Warlock class, but since also i am asking for house rules...
Hi all, i have been around for some time reading here and there and finally i have a question to make -and therefore a reason for posint, yay- on these forums. I am an overcomplicated player, while i can play a normal character just right -my first 5ed character was a warrior with a bow and the Eldritch knight feature- i love personalizing stuff withing the rules or house roules if the DM gives me the option to do so. Having said that i move to the question at hand.
¿Has someone made a house rule where one can create a sort of character sheet for the familiar?
The reason i am asking this is, while i can work with the base sheet of the familiars i kinda like to give them my touch so they are part of my character insted of the feel of a 'standard" companion. While i know each companion can be uniquie in psique and etc, i usually want to reflect this in paper also.
Thanks for the replies!
Also, sorry for my wording, english it's not my mother language.
I like to think that anything out of the monster manual that had a CR of at least 1/4, is tiny sized, and makes sense can be used as a familiar. Other than that, if my players had an idea for something they wanted reskinned or homebrewed, i'd let them bring something for my approval. It's not hard to balance when you compare them to some other basic familiars and let's the player get more into the game.
For the most part, cosmetic and minor changes to a familiar are easy enough and just require a yes/no from your DM. Like having a Gazer familiar with one fewer eyestalk. Larger mechanical changes need to be hammered out. Familiars do not gain XP though so you can pretty much just use their stat block.
