I think most shouldn't, the ones I'd give would be:
Artificer: Mending, as it's basically a class feature and they're a half caster.
Cleric: Spare the Dying, because it hardly ever gets taken due to so many better options.
Druid: Druidcraft, same as Cleric, every Druid should have this, but in practice most people ignore it when there are other options.
Prestidigitation for Bards, Sorcerers, Warlocks and Wizards might make sense, as it's specifically described as used by novices to practice. That said, I think it's a cantrip that's a lot more useful than people realise; while flavouring things is most often used for comedic effect, it can also be used to mask poisons, heating and chilling can be handy now and then, cleaning/soiling is good for clearing or masking a crime scene or making yourself immaculate or dirty to maintain a disguise, lighting/snuffing fires is great for stealth/investigation, temporary marks can be used to pass secret messages, and a palm-sized illusion can be a badge of office, so it's got a lot of potential uses, but loads of people just don't take it when they could take another damage cantrip or something with more specific use like Minor Illusion or Mage Hand. My Bard in my current main campaign (though about to go on hiatus for a separate Frostmaiden campaign) has Thaumaturgy (Infernal Ancestry), Prestidigitation, Minor Illusion and Mage Hand as cantrips, and I get so much use out of all of them (I rarely get through a session without using at least two of these). The thing is, they're all good choices.
As for the others I don't think they're needed; you should choose them if they fit your theme; most them are useful enough in their own right that they should need to be free.
Former D&D Beyond Customer of six years: With the axing of piecemeal purchasing, lack of meaningful development, and toxic moderation the site isn't worth paying for anymore. I remain a free user only until my groups are done migrating from DDB, and if necessary D&D, after which I'm done. There are better systems owned by better companies out there.
I have unsubscribed from all topics and will not reply to messages. My homebrew is now 100% unsupported.
