I'm making an adventure for some friends and I made a new type of monster called "Dames Blanches". Roughly French for "ladies in white". This is an old French urban legend. They're basically bridge troll shapechangers posing as beautiful women that attempt to seduce men. The mechanic goes as follows:
Charisma Detection. The Dames Blanches can instantly identify the creature with the lowest Charisma score within a group of travelers, as this is likely their main target.
I'm not sure if this sort of thing already exists in D&D, but is this a fair ability for them to have? Or should there be some kind of roll? This is my first adventure and I'd really appreciate the help.
Side Note: These are a small form of enemy near the beginning of the adventure, the BBEG has a similar ability. It goes as follows:
Judgement of Wisdom. Macab is a trickster, and upon first meeting someone, he will always attempt to gage their naïveté. Everyone within 60 feet must make a DC 20 Wisdom saving throw. Upon success, nothing happens, and Macab assumes you aren't easy to sway. Upon failure, he will be made aware of your gullibility. The GM will be given the player's Wisdom score and will use that to Macab's advantage. The player with the least Wisdom will be an excellent first target.
The Battlemaster Fighter has a similar ability, in which they can tell whether someone has a better/worse/equal Strength, fighter level, etc than theirs. So yes, I would say there's some precedent. And even if they don't have a specific ability, they might just be insightful enough to spot the easiest target. Have fun with your first adventure!
