((I planed to have Trin ritualcast detect magic before entering again however, I forgott about it becaus we kind of jumped back into it. If you don't allow me to assume she had it running, she will cast it now.))
(OOC - That's fine, I did jump ahead.)
As you make your way around to the north, you first notice a faint glow coming from one of the old books on the shelf. As you round the end of the bookcase, you notice a glow on the table at the north end of the room near the top of the staircase leading down. The glow comes from what looks like a robe, folded up and placed carefully on the table. You also see a potion of healing on the table.
(@Spark - what were you investigating or looking at? Were you looking at books as you follow Trinjya? Describe what you're doing as you follow along, just so I can get a sense of what you're hoping to find with your rolls.)
As Trinjya points out the book with a faint magical aura, Samael picks up the book to look closer. The book is quite old and you cannot make out a title, but as you flip through the worn pages, it occurs to you that the cover seems a little thicker than it should be and after some investigation, you find a small, hidden compartment. Inside the compartment you find a small pearl.
As Gandalon flies around the library, he sees the two nothics sitting quietly on the far side of the library, staring at the hole in the ground and oblivious to the familiar's movements.
(OOC - I just realised that I forgot to add in my previous post, that as Samael pulls the pearl out of the hidden compartment in the book cover, that Trinjya can see that it is the source of the glow inside the book. The pearl itself is magical in some way. Also, poor Gandalon, sent in to do all the dirty work :P Perigord, I'm just a little confused - are you looking for more books like what you found/took yesterday?)
This is supposedly a portal to an earlier time, so I'm looking for the same books, to see if this is a time before we entered originally. But also just perusing the shelves to try and see what this place is.
This is supposedly a portal to an earlier time, so I'm looking for the same books, to see if this is a time before we entered originally. But also just perusing the shelves to try and see what this place is.
(OOC - ah ok.)
As Perigord looks over the book titles through the warp, the titles appear along the same vein as the books you found previously and so would appear that this particular section of the library was devoted to horticulture and magical plants and alchemical properties.
Samael pockets the pearl and as you leaf through the book, the pages and ink provide no further information. The pages crumble in your finger tips and the ink has long since faded away.
(OOC - is Gandalon continuing to overwatch, or is he going to grab the robe and potion? Alternatively, did someone else want to just move over to the table to the north and grab the items Trinjya saw?)
(OOC - all good. I figured that might have happened, we've been back and forth a bit :) )
Trinjya winces as Gandalon flies closer to the robe and potion, unsure as to whether the magical items on the table ahead were trapped. Gandalon takes hold of the robe and potion, and as he lifts them off the table to bring them to Horatio... nothing happens. Gandalon drops the items into Horatio's waiting hands and you can identify the potion is a Potion of Healing. The robe however is rather peculiar. A little old and rugged, and covered in patches of various images.
Horatio tucks the robe away at this time, having cleared enough room on his person to hold on to it. Horatio moves to explore the end of the library opposite the hole in the ground. In addition, he will go ahead and cast false life on himself with his invocation, gaining 7 temp hp.
Trinjya kind of gave up on sneaking since everybody else is just moving around like they are shopping in a general good store and is now warily keeping an eye on the nothics.
"There seem to be stairs there at the back, guys, do you want to get further into the library?"
She will slowly make her way over to the northern staircase checking for mechanical or magical traps on her way there.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
You don't see any obvious traps about the library as you look down the stairs.
The stairs to the north-east lead down and under your current platform, and you can see that the hole in the floor lies a little ways from the base of the stairs. As you approach closer, you can see that one of the pillars collapsed, breaking the hole in the floor to reveal the area below. The stairs to the north lead down and around a statue and finish just north of the pedestal that held the tome that the creature had pointed to the day before. On the opposite side of the library, you can see what looks like a mirror image of the layout you currently stand at - one staircase wrapping around a statue to the north, and another leading under the western platform and up.
As you all move further north into the library, suddenly some of the old books fly off the shelf to the east, however you all catch sight of a tiny floating creature darting away cackling and mimicking Trinjya with a high pitched voice "Do you want to go further?" It disappears from your line of sight as it quickly moves down the north-east stairs.
Samael tries to catch a look of the creature as it dashes away and while it's hard to get a decent look, you do see a tiny creature floating away. With some stalks coming out of its round body and a large toothy grin. You all hear a similar high-pitched voice from another part of the library, "What was that thing? What was that thing?" It then cackles for a moment before silence falls over the sunken library once again.

(Samael was checking books, magical oddities, anything that seemed.....not quite normal.)

OOC: Sorry I vanished for a bit there.
Perigord wanders about the area, trying to see if he can find the books he took yesterday.

"This smells like a trap to me, maybe we can send the imp or usr some other means to fetch the stuff from a save distance."

Samael keeps the pearl.

Sure, sorry - missed that little addendum. Gandalon will try to grab the robe and potion, and fly it back to Horatio, remaining as unseen as possible.
