This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
With his high passive perception Norwin probably sees Mulligan sneaking away and he giver her an acknowledging nod, thinking 'this is not what we signed up for, can't blame them'
He then turns to the wolf at the end of the room and casts Toll the Dead again (wis save 13 or 2 damage) and he then walks to the people on the other side of the room)
Watching as the wolf was hit by Willow, Moralesh seizes the moment to cast Resistance on her and the healing word on himself (heals 4 hp). “Feeling better Miss Willow. We’re gonna make it for sure.”
Sylharice sends a beam of frost at the wolf attacking Willow and Moralesh. It hits the unsuspecting animal clean on the back and surrounds it with white frost. It gives a strained Yelp, then its eyes roll back in its head, and it falls over, dead.
Graeme slowly approaches the wolf. "Easy there, Kitty. Ahm jus goin' ta slip this collar off ya." (Animal Handling: 15)
The wolf seems to know that Graeme means it no harm, and allows him to get close. As Graeme reaches in to unlatch the leash, the beast lets out a low warning growl. Clearly, it has suffered at the hands of the goblins and has no trust of anyone.
The latch is rusty and the collar has bitten into the neck, it apparently hadn't been adjusted for the growth of the wolf in some time. Graeme pries open the latch and pulls the collar off. As the heavy collar falls to the floor, the wolf bolts past Graeme towards the mouth of the cave and disappears into the wilderness.
"Oh." Graeme says disappointedly as he watches the wolf disappear from sight. He looks up at the group and says "Ah thought we might hae 'ad somethin'."And with a shrug Graeme regains his feet. "I guess we should be checkin' on those two?"
Sylharice turns to Graeme lifting his shoulders and says "most certainly we don't have more goblins on our toes..I guess we were lucky to kill them fast enough." I should thank u for your help Mrs willow if i heard correct and Mr?
Moralesh started at the frozen animal at his feet looks up to the two that were talking. For a few short seconds he doesn’t register the words being said. As clarity returns so does memory. “Oh! I almost hit you with that acid bath! I am so sorry, we honestly didn’t think anyone was coming to help us.” He rushes over to Graeme, dropping the rocks in his hands. “Here lemme heal you up!” Almost as an afterthought he blurts out “I’m Moralesh Honabi, not mister anything, and this is Miss Willow Rain”
"Thanks lad! Aye, you did!" Graeme chuckles "... but luck was on my side - no harm done!"
Graeme holds out a hand to Moralesh. "Well met, Moralesh and Willow! Aye, Silharice, Norwin, and I were lucky to come across you two as well!" Looking sadly back to the mouth of the cave he continues... "We lost 2 good folks - not dead, just left to pursue other needs. Would the two of you be interested in a merging of teams?"
As Moralesh puts his hand down his knees give, the adrenaline no longer coursing through his body. “Well if you’re ok then I would just as well rest. Miss Willow are you alright?” He looks at the shifter then back to the new comers “Don’t known if we’d be much help seeing as you just rescued us and all. We need some gear and a good rest after being here for as long as we were. What do you think Miss Willow?”
Sylharice adds " we are looking for a missing dwarf and his friend...and we think they might be in this cave! I don't know the reasons u end up here but teaming up its going to be beneficial for everybody as its a dangerous place..and top of that u can earn the money from the job initially our former comrades came for"
Willow would return to her more human-like form with her red furred arms fading to skin. Now immediately looking around for a weapon, she settles her strange white fox mask on the newcomers. It covers her face completely, and the eyes have a strange white coating over them that seems impossible to see through. Red marks like dried blood are drawn as lines on the cheeks and around the eyes. She would wave slowly. "Hello, well timed strangers. Tired, hungry. Need of gear. Not strong, but precise. Where from, wolf releaser?" "Also, Moralesh worry to much, he bitten, not me."
As you talk, each of you looks around at the surroundings. You're not far inside the cave, and there is still a little light here, dim but enough to see by. The stream flows by noisily though it's shallow and fairly slow moving, at least here. Next to it the path climbs steeply disappearing into the darkness.
The chamber the wolves (and Willow and Moralish) were chained in reeks. Some light does spill in, being so close to the cave entrance, but it is still dim and dark in here without any artificial light source. The stench of animals fills the air, as well as other things. Decay. Dead things. The fissure at the back of the chamber climbs very steeply 30ft or so into the ceiling. At the base of the fissure is a midden. It's clear that rubbish is regularly thrown through the small gap at the top. Old bones, rags, broken tools are amongst the more palatable items on the heap.
Moralesh nods agreeing with Willow. “Yes, definitely in need of some sort of gear, proper rest, and...” noticing the shallow stream he immediately starts walking towards it “in need of a washing to get rid of the stench. Sitting beside a rubbish pile for days is hard on ones nose.” After rinsing his arms and face he turns to their “rescuers”. Standing he walks over to them and proffers his hand. “I’ve told you our names, yours are and what are your ultimate goals in this area?” Moralesh smiles broadly but with the reservation of one who has been rejected before.
"Aye, I'm Graeme." He says as he takes Moralesh's hand and glances over at Willow. "I am from a small village in the far Northwestern lands. The name ain't important as unlikely you've heard of it. But thank you for asking! Wha' about yerself an' Moralesh here? Where might you call home?"
"Good day. As my companion Greame just told, my name is Norwin. We were on our way to Phandalin to deliver some goods. Until we were ambushed on the road and have strong indications our patron and a companion of his were ambushed as well. We are here to retrieve their bodies for a proper burial, or maybe save them if they are still alive. Have you maybe by chance see a Dwarf and Human come by?"
He looks around the cavern. "A little rest for our new companions might be a good idea, that is... If you want to join us. Maybe we should find a place a little out of the way from here? I could lend you a mace or hand crossbow, I don't use them that often."
Seeing that Moralesh has admitted himself to the stream of water, Willow would rush past Graeme, Norwin and Sylharice. Once she reached the water, she would pull her mask up, and dunk her entire head into the stream, gulping vigorously. No care is given to quality of drink here, and once her thirst is slated, she would pull her mask down and turn to the others, seemingly looking past them at the acid splashes dead wolves.
"Mace not skin wolf. Crossbow not skin wolf. Phandalin? Phandalin was target for us too. Delivery to Lionshield Coster. Arms place. Ambushed by little orcs. Not friendly at all, unlike other little orcs who listen. Days captive, hear words of Bugbear leader of these little orcs named Klarg. Hear words of things sent away to King Grol. Hear things of Black Dragon and Cragmaw Castle. Any important to newcomers?"
Willow would take to searching the dead wolves for any salvageable meat, and begin tearing at their hide with her fingers. She seems to be interested in tearing off a leg at the very least. While doing this, she looks to Graeme, as if recalling he asked where she was from.
"Call home? Trees good home sometime. Inn good home sometime. Willow likes ale and stale jerky. Very cheap, makes happy. Clean cave up, might be good home too. Bad neighbors, would be hard to remove."
When her fingers produce less than acceptable results, a quick search outside the cave turns up the dead goblin guards where she seizes a scimitar and shield, but not before running the blade under water for a minute. She then giddily returns to the dead wolves with the blade in hand, ready to carve them up on the spot.
Sylharice said "I see...I was right Graeme there was a bigger fish to catch! Do u have any idea how many goblins might be here?" .he goes nearby the fissure and adds" it seems they are using this to discard meat to feed the wolves and probably it leads to a another part of the cave.i don't think i can climb it without falling or making noise...does anyone else wann try?who knows it might save us from making circles and a avoid any other danger
"Numbers? Not know. Handfuls maybe. No try climb either. Could try yell up, taunt little orcs! Lie and lie again, see if they come, set ambush!" Willow would tilt her head a bit, pondering. "Is not good idea, but if blood thirsty could do. Or could warn of coming. Unless I give good lie, maybe they come looking for new prisoners? Ambush then."
"I don't think climbing up there, or announcing our presence is to our advantage. From what Willow says it sounds like the leader is up there, I don't think we want to walk into that single file. Maybe we should block this fissure so when we come up they can't escape this way? And then continue the other way around?"
