Garavant looks back briefly and gestures for them to come forward with one hand, while putting one index finger to his lips to convey "Shh, move quietly."
When the others are close at hand, he whispers "Definitely someone or ones behind that wall. We should keep quiet and be ready to strike."
Ingrida, seeing Garavant's gesture, softly put her hand on Bree's back to let her know it was time to move forward. She made her weapon ready to receive whatever foe Garavant had discovered, she secretly hoped it was more orcs.
Lucy's plan was successful. But she found that pouring, shaping, freezing takes too much time, and she doesn't have enough water to seal all the slits.Seeing Gravant's gestures, she decides to put her method aside and ventures forward, edges along the wall just like the halfelf did.
Stealth:14
Peeping into the hallway leading to the next room, the elf wizard frowns and says. "So these idiot orcs are not totally fools about their interior design after all. If I send Artemis to seal one of the slits, they would shoot her from the other one.humm…"
Lucy moves up to Garavant'sposition without seeming to attract any attention. You can both make out the illumination of torches just inside the huge stone doors to the east, and beyond those, what seems to be a rope bridge stretching into the darkness.
(Anyone else trying to move up quietly will need to make a Stealth check)
On Ingrida's push Bree will also continue forward not seeing really in the dark (hoping some assitance from Ingrida on that account) and join the others.
Stealth: 22 (extra roll if disadvantage because of the dark: 15)
While waiting others, Lucy whispers to Garavant."Hey, shaping and freezing water aren't my only trick. I can make a illusion to cover that nasty slit. Do you think you can sneak into that door if I block their field of view?"
Ingrida does her best to keep her armor and equipment silent, but that is definitely not what it was made for. It was made from the hammering of hammer on dwarven steel, and it echoed that ringing even as she walked.
Ingrida joins the group, masterfully controlling the movement of her heavy metal armour. Still there are no signs of alert or movement from within any of the arrow slits.
The four of you stand at the corner, peering into the dancing torchlight beyond the massive, inexplicably open, stone doors. As you glance back to see if Laerthelasis following, you realise that he is nowhere to be seen; you may need to press on with your plan, whatever that might be, without the wood elf.
(OOC: I nudged Laerthelas's player a few hours ago and advised that we would be carrying on without him. He is free to rejoin in the next 24hrs otherwise I will remove him and recruit a replacement)
Garavant nods at Lucy's question. "Excellent. An illusion will certainly help and I will do my best to be silent as a spider."
Once the elven wizard has weaved her magic, Garavant will creep up to the massive, open doors and try to get a better look at what lies beyond in the area of the rope bridge.
Lucy waves her hand at the southern arrow slit and a black sheet of magical essence forms from the Weave that permeates all of the material realm. If the intended effect holds, anyone inside the wall should be blinded to the outside but unaware.
Once the illusion is in place, Garavantedges forward along the ancient stone wall and up the cracked marble steps, every footstep placed with rogueish delicacy but sounding in his own head like the clanging of an empty tankard on a bar. After seemingly hours advancing forwards, Garavant reaches the huge open doors, his colleagues looking on in either hope, concern, intrigue or a combination of all three.
The doorway opens into a large hall. A narrow ledge overlooks a deep, dark crevasse that cuts the room in two. A dangerous-looking rope bridge, frayed and thin, spans the gap. Water gurgles and rushes somewhere far below. Two copper braziers burn brightly on either side of the door, illuminating the western half of the room. Another ledge is barely visible on the other side of the chasm.
Two bored-looking orcs stand watch on the other side of the crevasse. At first they do not see the rogue tucked just inside the doorway, but suddenly something catches their attention – a glint of brazier light on a buckle maybe, or a scrape of stone under boot. They snarl a challenge, revealing yellowed tusks, and prepare to hurl javelins!
(Everyone roll for initiative and declare actions please)
Once Bree notices Garavant being attacked she will run towards the door (I assume the light is enough for her to do so). If she sees the orcs she will throw a firebolt towards the one she can reach easiest (Attack: 22 Damage: 10), if not she will try to use the doors for some cover (using her action to dash if necessary otherwise taking the dodge action).
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Initiative: 18
Ingrida quickly grips the hilt of her weapon and shield as she senses the mood swiftly change to that of combat. She's afraid all their stealth might have been for naught though as she drops all attempts at being stealthy and rushes towards whatever is through the door with axe in hand.
OOC: Ingrida will move her speed towards the bridge (25ft) and then take the dodge action for her action.
As soon as she hears the challenging voices, Lucy shakes her head and follows Caravant. "…Nice try. Not as silent as a spider though."
Hiding behind the door, the elf wizard finds the crevasse, the fragile bridge and two orcs. If the orcs cut down the bridge, the party will get into serious trouble. No time for waste and no for being stingy. Lucy unleashes her Webspell. The magical webbing spreads and encompasses the two orcs and the darkness behind them, but leaves enough space for adventurers to cross the bridge.
Garavant freezes for a moment when he realizes he's been heard and spotted. The normally quick to react half-elf seems stunned in disbelief that the orcs are on to him.

OOC: Will wait to declare action until everything else has transpired. A lousy 2!
Ingridagoes into combat mode, weaving as she approaches the open doors so as to avoid any incoming attacks.
Lucy is ahead of her and faster, long elven legs carrying the bladesinger to the doorway next to Garavant. Hier last two strides are punctuated with an elaborate incantation and somatic gesture, which culminate in a pointing motion towards the opposite side of the bridge. A mass of sticky webbing explodes between the orcsand covers them, as well as the walls, floor and ceiling.
The orcstry to twist out of the way of the clinging tendrils – Dex save vs DC13 for Orc 1: 19 and Orc 2: 21
Showing an impressive amount of acrobatic ability, both orcs twist free of the web but remain within its area in order to stay in cover. They each launch a javelin at one of the intruders (both at disadvantage due to range, and both defenders gain +2AC for cover):
Orc 1 attacks Lucy: Attack: 7 Damage: 9
Orc 2 attacks Garavant: Attack: 21 Damage: 6
Two orc archers appear at the arrow slits in the doorway an fire at the advancing adventurers. Archer 2 fires at Bree: Attack: 8 Damage: 5 and Archer 1 fires at Ingrida: Attack: 10 Damage: 8
Bree'sfire bolt then arcs across the bridge perfectly and hits Orc 1 despite his cover. It also ignites the webbing around him (will cause damage on the orc's next turn and then destroy the web in that square on Bree's next turn).
The orc's javelin barely missed Lucy's head, caught a few strings of her blonde hair. "You, annoying ugly apes! I'll pork your eyes and stab your barbarian brain!" Cursing in elvish, Lucy sends a sparkling psychic arrow toward the orc who was injured by Bree's Fire bolt. (If he is killed by the fire then the another one would be the target)
Mind Sliver:2 (Attack/Save: INT 13, subtract 1 from the next saving throw it makes before the end of Lucy's next turn)
(OCC: Currently Lucy's AC is Mage Armor(she casted it on last encounter(Mar 21, 2021)) 13+Dex modifier 3 + cover 2 =18, right?)
"Archers!" Bree yells to the others ahead of them to let them know they are taking fire from the arrow slits. She then progresses up the stairs ahead of Garavant and grabs hold of her amulet. "Hammer of Moradin smite my foes!" she calls out and a bright light flashes on the other side of the bridge, followed by the materialization of a floating spiritual hammer that strikes out at the orc next to it! "Take that!" she calls out to her orc foes before pulling her shield in front of her.
OOC: Ingrida will move one square ahead of Garavant and then will cast Spiritual Weapon in the square next to orc 2, then have it take an attack. She will then take the dodge action with her standard action.
Spiritual Weapon attack against Orc 2: Attack: 18 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.
