Corinne growls but let’s the flower swallow her, intending to bust out of it with Shi (they will both be occupying the same flower)

Mallet, still entangled by the other crypt flower, reaches out with her hand and casts healing word on Shi for 11 and then sacred flame on her flower for 8 radiant damage.

Mallet's spells kill the final plant and save Shi! Combat is over. With the plants destroyed, you are now able to remove all of the weeds from the town square, something that should take roughly an hour and a half if the five of you all work together.

Blood pools beneath me, mixing with dirt to form a gritty paste. I feel my lifeforce bleeding out, and darkness pulls at me, stronger than ever as I fall into the flower's mouth. The searing pain of the blade in my stomach, the muted sounds of battle around me, muffled by the flower's body-no, the hair in my ears-no, the dirt against my cheek-no, Corinne's arms around me. Which death is this? Which darkness beckons? The questions swirl, and with them comes all the other deaths, shouting for my attention. Katie hides from raiders, Lahuna faces her nightmares, Kieran steps between a child and a guard's spear, Briana falls to a lion's claws, Asta faces down a griffon, Havid kneels before an executioner's blade. Who am I? I see a woman lying on the ground, a thousand minds spinning through her own as she drifts closer to the darkness. Who is she? Who is Shi?

And then, light.

Shi's eyes fly open, pure white for a moment before settling into their original blue color. Back in her white-haired changeling form, she slowly stands up, wildness in her eyes settling into recognition as she looks around. "Well, I believe we have some weeding to do," she says simply, a single blue orb appearing and hovering at her shoulder as she heads for the weeds.

As you finish with the weeds, one of the indistinct ghostly watchers speaks, “Ah, we can rest easily with that good work done. It’s reassuring to know there are still helpful people here. We knew we wouldn’t get any help from that strange purple woman with the long tongue. All she ever did is come by and pick through the ruins with a sour look on her face.” The other spirit interjects as they both start to fade away, “Except when she saw the corpse of that cat; she tore into that like she hadn’t eaten in months. So very desperate. Always hungry and distracted by an easy meal, I’d wager. Thanks again, friends!”

With the work complete, you head to the jeweler's store. This once-elegant small shop is in ruins. Broken display cases line the far wall, their shattered glass littering the floor. Several velvet cushions, fabric torn and stuffing pulled out, lie scattered everywhere. A small table, standing behind a counter, is covered in a mess of broken jewelry-making tools, bits of tarnished silver, and slivers of gemstones. You all see the ghostly form of a young man wearing fine clothes.  He is running his hands through his wavy hair as he stands over one of the shop’s counters, muttering to himself, “No, that isn’t it. Which one, which one?” You can see that he is staring at five hazy pieces of jewelry, their exact forms impossible to determine.

Shi listens to the mention of the woman with the long tongue with a frown.

Nature? To identify "long tongue": 9

Arcana would be another +2 to the roll.

The check would actually be religion, since the long-tongued creature with purple skin and a taste for corpse flesh fits the description of a ghoul.

"Ghouls, never leave enough for me to absorb the death," Shi murmurs with a touch of disgruntledness.

At the jewelry shop, Shi slips over. "What are you looking for?" she inquires of the young man's spirit.

The young man stops to explain his situation. "I was in the shop quite late to purchase a last-minute gift for my beloved when there was a white flash of light outside that did something to my memory."

Shi nods. "And that is contributing to your trouble picking a piece?" she asks, gesturing to the pieces on the counter.

 "Yes." He gestures at the gems before him. “I remember that there were five different pieces of jewelry here in a single row. Each piece of jewelry contains a different gemstone, and I had decided on the emerald piece—it will bring out the green in my beloved’s eyes—but now I can’t remember which one that is! I’m sure the necklace and the ring are on the two ends. I remember that the bracelet is to the immediate right of the ruby piece of jewelry (which isn’t the necklace) and to the immediate left of the earrings. And I know the brooch (which doesn’t contain an amethyst or ruby) is to the immediate right of the diamond piece of jewelry and to the immediate left of the sapphire piece of jewelry.”

Mallet casts prayer of healing on the group before leaving the weeding area: 19 hp to everyone.

Getting to the jeweler's, her eyes begins to cross as the ghost speaks. She looks helplessly at the others.

She absentmindedly begins mending broken pieces of glass, equipment, metal, wood, and stone.

Shi is correct in pointing out that the emerald brooch is right of center. The young man is delighted. He grabs up the brooch with his ghostly hand and moves toward the shop’s front door, fading away as he goes. The other phantom pieces of jewelry also disappear as the ghostly young man fades away. With this task completed, you head to the schoolhouse at the northeastern end of town. As you approach, you can see a glow from within, emanating from a dozen frolicking child-like figures.

Four rows of four small desks each fill most of this chamber, with a single large, wooden desk near the only door. Broken writing tablets and dozens of pieces of chalk litter the dirty floor. Several grimy windows around the room look out onto the ruined town. As you enter, the ghostly children stop for a moment to greet you all. "Good morning, teachers." They all say in unison, before returning to jumping around the room and climbing on their desks.

Shi heads in and to the front of the class. "Hello, students. Sit down for the lesson, please."
