Helena would be helping watch, as she goes through her spellbook. She would talk if asked something, but wouldn't likely start a conversation, not while the others are trying to sleep.
While keeping watch, Ryndar cares for his longbow, tightening the string and oiling the wood. He counts his remaining arrows, checking the fletchings. He shakes his head, wishing he had been more prepared.
The sky is just showing signs of lightening in the east, hinting at the coming sunrise, when Essie catches sight of two goblins. They scamper silently across the village square, using the occasional boulder as cover, unaware that they have been seen. Unless Essie interrupts their progress, they disappear into the inn.

The watch is surprisingly boring, but Essie's long since learned to sit still for long periods of time. Meditation, y'know? But when she catches sight of the goblins, she rises to her feet.
"More goblins? How odd." She wrinkles her nose and looks to Helena. "I'm gonna go see what they're doing." And she moves toward the door.
By this point Daerthe has had her rest, sitting impatiently before moving away from any spot where the sun starts to come through into the temple. "The cursed ball of fire is here..."
It occurs to Essie that these may be the two goblins that Flik mentioned, the ones that were playing in the windmill and refused to leave town. She remembers that when you all were approaching town, the windmill was on the south end of the village and that’s the direction from which these goblins were coming. They have disappeared into the inn.
(By the way, most of the group needs about one more hour of rest for your long rest. Also, at the end of this long rest, you all gain a level. Welcome to Level 2!)
"Leave them for now." Helena speaks up at the mention of the two goblins. "Unless it is urgent, I think the others need a bit more rest before we look into anything."
She looks back over her shoulder at Helena and pauses, her hand on the doorframe. Then she gives her a little nod. "Perhaps we could wait for the others," she says after a moment. "I don't know if I wish to kill them, though, and that appears to be a quick response of ours."
As the group completes their long rest, they feel stronger. Some sense new abilities or spells at their disposal. Most, though not all, welcome the rising sun, ready to leave the inconveniences of the dark night behind them.
One improvement is a better view of the village in the morning light. Anyone who looks out the door of the temple sees the Nightstone Inn right in front you, about 30 feet to the east. Beyond it is a wagon and the barn. As you look around the perimeter of the village square, you see another cottage near the southeast corner. Right behind it is a sizable field. One side of the field borders a medium size building with a sign above the entrance on the west side. It is a blue shield with a golden lion rearing up: the symbol of the Lionshield Coster, a trading company. The southwest corner of the village square is where Ryndar explored two abandoned cottages the previous night. Beyond the nearby wheat field, a hill rises with a windmill atop.
The village square itself has a covered well about 10 feet south of the entrance to the inn. Several boulders are spread about. There is some kind of hole in the center of the square. And of course, there are still a couple of goblin corpses lying about.

"Some goblins went into the inn this morning." Helena says with a nod that direction. "I guess that would be my suggestion, see what is going on there, then search the rest of the village for anything or anyone who might be able to tell us more about where the people went." She glances to the gate. "Might come to just following those tracks we saw last night, heading away from the village, but I think we should have a good look around here before trying that."
Bramble wakes refreshed and surprisingly more powerful.
"Good morning, everyone. I now have the ability to assume certain animal shapes. I can do this up to an hour at a time. If you'd like, I can become a cat for an hour. I can slink around as many buildings as I can, entering those that have been damaged and try and gain as much information without drawing attention to myself as possible. Not sure how much I can learn in an hour or if you all have a better idea. Let me have a quick bite of rations while you all talk it over."
Bramble should be pretty good with telling time by sun/shade angles to know not to exceed an hour. Also, he realizes he would be slower due to trying to be stealthy to avoid goblin arrows, rocks falling from the sky or stray dogs.
"I still think we just stay together and go check out the inn." Helena says. "Likely most of the goblins are gone, but it would not be good for one of us to be caught alone, regardless if they are a cat or not."
Daerthe simply shrugs as she gets to her feet, still doing her best to avoid stepping directly into the light that is filtering into the room. "If we are to fight then do be sure to catch them in a dark place. Otherwise I will not be of much use. Your precious fire orb does not agree with my eyes."
The group proceeds to the entrance of the Nightstone Inn. The sign above the door is made of ornate wrought iron, spelling out the name. Opening the door, you see a sizable dining area, about 15 x 10 feet, dimly lit by light coming in through windows on the east and west and by a large hole in the ceiling. Clearly, one of the boulders crashed through the roof of the inn, passing through an upstairs bedroom, and smashing into a dining table and benches. Two smaller round tables escaped any damage. They each have a few chairs and an unlit lamp. Beyond this dining area is a door on the north wall and some steps that presumably go up to the bedrooms above.
In the middle of the floor is a dead goblin with a crossbow bolt sticking out of the middle of their back.
(What do you want to do? Feel free to make Perception or Investigation checks to look around and/or Medicine to check the dead goblin.)

Ryndar follows Daerthe into the inn. Noting that she seemed to be focused searching for other signs of the goblins, he focuses on the downed goblin.
"None of the goblins we encountered last night had crossbows..." He muses as he tries to determine when the goblin may have died.
