Not hearing anything, Daerthe shrugs and moves to follow after one of the others to inspect one of the other rooms. "Any signs of the wretched things?" She will ask Helena we she steps into the same room as the wizard.
Ryndar whispers back to the group upstairs, "Nothing in this room..."
He'll move to the remaining unchecked room. Stealth: 17 Perception: 16
There are two unchecked rooms. One is across the hall from the northeast room that he just checked. This is the southeast one that you imagine has boulder damage. The other is across the hall from the one that Helena and Daerthe are in. Which are you checking? Southeast or southwest?

Ryndar steps into another empty room that is exactly like the first one he searched: undamaged, two beds, desk, chair, wardrobe, rug, etc. Now there is only one room left to explore, the one in the southeast corner of the inn.

Daerthe does not detect any traps. The chest simply appears to be locked.
Meanwhile, Helena opens the door to the last room and sees another guest room that looks similar to the others. It has the expected damage to the ceiling and floor. The northern half of the room closest to the door is undamaged. An intact desk and chair sit below the window on the eastern wall. As you look about, a voice comes from the northwest corner, a little behind the door as it has swung open.
“Don’t hurt me! Please!”
The source of the voice is a human woman who is standing in a defensive position with her hands raised, palms open, one with a hand crossbow pointing at the ceiling. She has dirty blond hair, pale skin, and dark brown eyes. She is wearing a dark cloak over dusty traveling clothes. Helena can just make out a small snake coiled around her left arm.

Daerthe will reach into her pack and pull out a leather tool wrap. Carefully unrolling it she will reveal what appears to be thieves tools that seem to have come from various sources, some looking new while others look well used. It seemed much like her clothing these had been scavenged from various places. As she comes across her lockpick she will move close to the chest and attempt to unlock it.
Daerthe works at the lock with a practiced hand. She arranges the tumblers just so and after a minute, hears a quiet click. Opening the lid, Daerthe finds a suit of chain mail and a well crafted helm. Holding up the armor, she can see that it is made for someone with a short but stocky build. It looks like it would suit one of the duergar of her homeland. The helm, however, has a simple sunrise design etched upon it. Perhaps a surface dwarf owned this. In the corner of the chest, she finds a leather bag that holds 45gp, 2 deep black gemstones (Jet, worth 100gp each), and a vial. Within the vial is a strange blue potion that bubbles as if boiling. Clearly, someone with some wealth lived or stayed in this room.

Daerthe will smirk as she pockets the vial, gold and gems, shutting the chest after since she does not see what she will be able to do with the armor made for a dwarf. Once her pilfering is done she will quickly join the others. As she sees the weapon in the hand of the human she will reach towards her rapier slowly.
As Ryndar and Daerthe approach, the woman backs up further into the corner. “Please, who are you? What do you want? Are the goblins gone? Are the villagers coming back?” Her hands remain raised, palms open.
(What would you like to do?)

"I am Ryndar. We are travelers who were stopping for the night, but found the village abandoned except for the goblins you mentioned." He replies as calmly as possible. "We believe most of been dispatched, in one way or another." He looks around, a bit confused. "One of our party saw two goblins come into the inn last night as we were sleeping in the temple. I only noticed one downstairs with a bolt through them. Your work I assume?" He motions towards the crossbow. "We don't know anything about the rest of the villagers, but noticed a set of tracks leading out of the village before we came in. What happened here? Was there a siege?"
Daerthe will keep her hand on the handle of her rapier, letting the others do the talking since she knows that the human woman would mostly likely have a negative reaction to seeing her. She will step to the side for now and wait.
“I was visiting Nightstone when the attack happened. I am a monk of the Sunrise Spire, down by Baldur’s Gate. I am traveling to learn and connect with other followers of Lathander. But the village was attacked! A cloud giant castle drifted over - I didn’t see it at first - only when the boulders started and the screaming. Soon I was unconscious. I must have been hit by something. I’m amazed I’m alive. When I woke everyone was gone. Then the goblins came. They must have thought the village was easy pickings. I hid up here. I killed that one downstairs, but I missed the other. It ran off toward the kitchen.” As she talks, she lowers her hands and glances toward the hole in the floor.

"Nothing much." Helena responds when asked. "That chest there has a lock on it though, we might want to take a look if we have time."

((Whoops, though Daerthe and Helena were in different rooms for some reason. We'll say the one less likely to be damaged (southwest)))

Daerthe will move over to the chest and inspect it for traps and to see if it will be worth her time to attempt opening it.
