Daerthe simply nods as she moves closer to the hole in the floor the woman seems to be interested in, drawing her bow from her shoulder before peering down.
"A cloud giant?!" Ryndar seems taken aback, "That certainly explains the boulders and lack of siege equipment at least." He thinks deeply on anything he can recall about cloud giants.
Daerthe edges into the room to see what Kella is looking at. She sees the hole that was made by the boulder that crashed through the room and down to the dining room of the inn. She can just make out the dead body of the goblin that they found earlier, but there is no other movement below.
Helena studies the woman carefully, trying to gauge her honesty.
She seems agitated and frightened from her experiences. Helena doesn’t sense any dishonesty in her story. From her passive History skill, she knows that it is completely possible for cloud giants to fly over a village and bombard it with boulders. But why? Why would they attack the little village of Nightstone?
Bramble listens carefully from the hallway. The woman’s story seems wild, but the whole situation in Nightstone has been unexpected for all of them. There don’t seem to be any great explanations, so cloud giants seem as likely as anything. Ryndar thinks over what he knows about cloud giants, but all he can remember is that they are giants who maybe live in the clouds? Bramble recalls that they are known to have flying towers and castles, but he has never met someone who has seen one before.
Meanwhile, Essie continues to stand watch at the base of the stairs. She can hear the rumble of the group’s voices upstairs, but can’t make out what is being said. There is no other movement or sound on the bottom floor of the inn.
Well, there's no shouting. Or screaming. Essie gives herself a little shrug and sits down at the bottom of the stairs. "They've probably got this well enough in hand," she murmurs to herself. Her fingers fidget with her holy symbol again as she adjusts her armor with her other hand. She's not used to wearing it for this long; she's still getting used to it, honestly.
"Very well." helena says with a shrug. She glances to the drow. "Did you have any luck with that chest in the other room?" She asks. "Might have been something in it to tell us why cloud giants would attack a village out here in the middle of nowhere."
Ryndar sighs deeply, "By my count, we still have a lone goblin somewhere in this town to root out. We should probably search the other buildings. Perhaps we'll stumble upon something to tell us where the rest of the townsfolk went."
The woman speaks up again. “Pardon me, but who are you? Did you say you are just travelers? No one sent you to come help the village? And--forgive all my questions--you said the goblins have mostly been...dispatched? Is it safe now? Do you think the villagers will come back? And the guards?” She seems to be studying each of them carefully.

"It was armor that belonged to what I think was a dwarf or some other short but stout being." Daerthe says with a shrug as she then turns to the other human. "There may still be another goblin about but the others were either dispatched or fled."
Ryndar replies, "Yes we are just travelers, we had stopped hoping for some respite from camping along the side of the road. Obviously to limited success." He continues, "I do believe that the majority of the goblins have left the town. As I mentioned, to the best of our knowledge only one is unaccounted for. We killed four, and we permitted four additional to leave town, with threats to not return. As for the villagers we have no information, there were humanoid footsteps leading north way from the village as we came in, but that is the only sign we saw."
“My name is Bramble, and I have some healing skills. Are you in need of aid after what you’ve been through? What may we call you?”
Bramble will step forward as non-threatenly as possible.
”Do you have any idea why the cloud giants would have attacked and why they are not here still?”
Either conversationally, or with a “bed-side” manner if allowed to examine for injuries, Bramble will continue,
“I think we would all like to see the villagers and guards return as soon as possible. Have you been here long enough to know where they might have fled to?”
“I’m greatly relieved to hear that the goblins are no longer a problem. I’m glad that you were not overmatched by them. They can be dangerous in large groups. My name is Kella, by the way, and no, I don’t think I need any healing, thank you. I’ve been able to rest a bit and I’m much recovered.” She backs away a little as Bramble approaches, seeming a little protective of her personal space. Her small snake hisses a little and she strokes it lightly to calm it.
“I was only in the village for a short time before the attack, so I don’t know a lot about it. There is a small keep across the bridge. Wouldn’t the villagers seek shelter there?” She pauses for a moment, and then as if making a decision says, “Maybe we should go look together. I would be glad to not be alone, especially as you all seem quite able to defend yourselves.”

"I'd say we should go to this keep next." Helena says, still not quite sold on this woman, but willing to give her the benefit of the doubt for now. She glances to the others. "What do you think?"
"This keep sounds as good a place as any we might go. If we are to go out into the light then let us do so with haste." Daerthe says as she moves to stand by the door, crossing her arms.
“We may even learn more about what has happened as we travel through the town. I haven’t left the inn since the attack,” says Kella. She gestures to invite you all to lead the way. “After you.”
(Below is a map of Nightstone, so you can tell me where you are headed. The smaller buildings are all cottages. You all remember the keep was across the broken bridge to the south of the village.)

Ryndar leads the group back out of the inn. "If I recall, the bridge to the keep is out. We'll need to find some way to cross the gap. Lets check out the other buildings before moving to the keep, perhaps we find some material that will help us repair the bridge. Not to mention we still have at least one more goblin to track down."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Daerthe will hold back to be at the rear of the group, her hand moving back to her rapier as they leave the inn. She knew there was a possible goblin still around, scanning their surroundings for any sign of it as they moved through the town.
