"I will participate in this roll if you wish it of me, or let this dragon creature decide, but otherwise I would not deny the more noble of you your chance at being the Champion of Greenest."
"I will be four," Kosef says."If Kendes is three, then Valas can be two and Evendur one." He clears a space on the closest flat surface and rolls a small triangular, four-sided dice: 3.
Kosef will pat his friend on the shoulder. "You can do this thing." He will start down with the others.
Valas was privately pondering having briefly met with a dragon on this day, and now potentially facing the champion of a dragon cult as well. He thought about his family and the good deal of unfinished business he felt he had regarding his purpose in his house and amongst the elves. When the die came up a 3, the elf did not hide a small exhale of relief.
"We shall watch your back, brave Kendes. May you prove too fast for your large foe."
Thinking about what he could do to help, Valas quickly ruled out any of the magic he had left at his disposal. "Escobert, does anyone in this town have a proper bow? I find myself lacking the proper weapon to watch over Kendes with from afar."
The creature calls up, "Do you have a champion? It would be a shame if I had to kill these four creatures because you were all afraid."
Nighthill looks to Kendes and says, "Thank you for this. Good luck."
Escobert thinks about Valas' request. "One of our hunters may have gotten into the keep. I'll see if one of them brought a bow." He hurries off. He returns with a worn shortbow and three arrows. "It's the best I could find. I hope it's good enough."
Evendur walks down from the parapet with heavy steps, experiencing a pang of guilt over sending a loyal companion to fight in his stead.
When the companions are standing in front of the keep Evendur takes a step forward and addresses the champion of the cult with a strong and firm voice. "Servant of Tiamat, you will have your fight if you first release your prisoners, on this you can be sure, but first consider this. You have come here tonight to loot and plunder, but know that a great number of your forces in Greenest have already fallen to our blades. As you have seen the great Lennithon has also decided to abandon your cause. You could still set your prisoners free and retreat while you can or you could soon be facing new threats without the protection of a dragon. Tiamat would be most displeased if you would fail to deliver your loot and would also be most unforgiving I would suspect. What say thee? Intimidation:25 (hey, rolled with advantage which the mere presence of Kendes, Kosef and Valas should give :-)
(OOC: Don´t know have many raiders there were but we killed over 50 of them.)
Kendes feels a sinking sense in the pit of his stomach when he sees the dice roll up his number. Still, he sighs. "Feels like justice being served, I guess,"he mutters. Turning to the others, he nods firmly. "If I die fighting that thing, at least it will have been for something. Make sure the prisoners get back safely, at the least. Torm guide my fists." Nodding at Nighthill, he steps over to the tower's edge and squares his shoulders, taking a deep breath, and then shouting down in draconic, both as an answer and an attempt to sow some discord among the kobolds behind Mondath.
"Mondath! I accept your challenge. Release the prisoners, and I will face you in combat. You've already lost Lennithon's support, so I'll be happy to show your men that you're not worthy of that color, would-be Wearer of Purple!"
He smiles down at Mondath, more confidently than he feels, then turns on his heels and makes his way down towards the courtyard.
(Enkida, I can change or delete my post since this is your show, but if it is okey I will let it stand. I figure our posts don´t contradict eachother. Also Evendur would still be glad to take the fight. Btw, I don´t think it´s Mondath that is doing the fighting for them but rather some dragonborn)
Dropping his dice back in his bag and his bag back into his backpack, Kosef watches Kendes. "You are very capable, my friend," he says. "Valas is right in his advice. If the Dragonborn behaves dishonorably we will destroy him."
"I am not Mondath," the dragon thing says. "My name is Langdedrosa Cyanwrath. You should no the name of the warrior who is about to best you." After listening to Kendes request to release the prisoners and Evendur's threats. "You may be good at defeating kobolds and humans, but I am a half-dragon. I am far superior to anyone you might have cowering in your keep. If it makes you feel better, I will release these pathetic children. I'll keep the adult until we are done though. Try anything underhand and I'll have one of my kobolds slit her throat."
The three children are released and rush towards the keep. The kobolds form a ring around Langdedrosa who is holding a spear. His tail swishes from side to side in anticipation.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
In a show of solidarity, Kosef creates space for himself between two of the kobolds. He puts the point of his great sword in the earth and rests his hands, about he height of his shoulders, on the pommel. He works to look intimidating: 9.
Kendes initiative: 5 (what a time to live! or not! LOL)
"That's not Mondath? Just great," Kendes swears under his breath. He's too busy being annoyed that he pegged the half-dragon wrongly to notice that Landedrosa is already charging him, unfortunately.
While Kendes manages to deftly avoid the first slash, the spear catches him squarely in the stomach, impaling him. He pulls free, spitting blood, but looks as if he's just about to fall over from the one hit alone.
"Ugh... for my father,"he manages to gasp out, as he grips his own spear in a slippery grip and strikes back.
Attack: 7(thank you, dice roller)
Unfortunately, his blood-slicked grip on the spear has already weakened, and the thrust goes wild. Rallying himself, he lets go of the spear with one hand and uses it to make a fist, swinging wildly at the half-dragon.
Evendur also positions himself between two kobolds, watching the duel unfold.
Seeing the half-dragon draw first blood Evendur has great difficulties restraining himself from entering the battle.
"No, this is not right, forgive me mighty Torm for not doing my duty, this was my responsibility. Brave Kendes have served you loyally and bravely mighty Torm, let him at least survive to be able to mete out justice at a later time and not in this forced duel with a rested opponent." Evendur says in a low voice, ready to rush in and protect brave Kendes should he fall.
(OOC: This wasn´t to the death right, but rather last creature standing, which I realize might turn out to be the same thing if we are unlucky.)
Kosef's jaw clenches and unclenches. He rubs at his blood-red beard with one hand. Kendes is fast, but somehow the lizard is faster. All of them together could destroy it, he is sure, but one-on-one . . .
Langdedrosa smiles at Kendes' unconscious body, and wipes some of the blood off his spear on Kendes' clothes. "I expected better. It is a shame this pitiful town had no one stronger." In draconic he says, "Free the hostage." The kobolds obey, and the woman scrambles away from them. Langdedrosa and the kobolds then join the other raiders who are making their way out of the town. After a long night of terror, the raiders are finally gone.
The gate to the keep opens once more, and Governor Nighthill, Escobert, Eadyan, Kipio, and several others rush over to Kendes.
As Kendes falls Evendur rushes forward and kneels by his side laying a hand on his wound. "Mighty Torm, save brave Kendes so that he may continue to serve you faithfully."
(Lay on hands 5 hit points)
Evendur then turns to the people exiting the keep. "Governor Nighthill, as soon as we are rested let us pursue these vile servants of Tiamat to their lair, the loyal fury demands that justice must be served for what has transpired here tonight."

Langdedrosa laughs at Kendes first wild attack, and blocks the second with his spear. He then attacks again, making two slashes.
