"LathanderOsmundBaldurAbzuBluedragon, what an unususal name for dragon"Evendur says to himself before realizing that the human probably came closer to the truth.
Evendur then rejoins the others. "I now believe the dragons name to be Lennithor or Lennithon" Have we come up with anything to bargain with or will I just offer to find it some sapphires to be delivered at its lair?" Evendur ponders if either Lennithor or Lennithon is draconic for something related to lightning or the color blue. He also tries to recall if he has heard of a dragon by either name. History:9

Valas too tries to remember if either name or a close variant matches his knowledge of known living dragons: 18
The elf listens to the concerns of Kendes and Kosef and agrees. "Your words are wise, but as I am not confident in our ability to defeat this dragon otherwise, I must try. We will try not to make such promises."
To Escobert he replies "if you can part with the azurite in hopes of sparing more victims here, yes it hopefully cannot hurt."
Escobert rushes off, searching for a key on his key ring while he walks. While they wait, Valas has time to reflect on dragons called Lennithor or Lennithon. He cannot recall any dragons by either name. After a few minutes Escobert returns with a velvet bag, a goblet embedded with polished azurites, an azurite necklace, and a unicorn figurine made from azurite. The velvet bag contains eight loose azurites.
"These were the best I could find," Escobert says.
"Then that will have to do, castellan." Evendur says calmly, taking the bag of azurites "Ready the parley sign, I will go out and talk to the dragon. Perhaps you can join me wise Valas,as you clearly are knowledgeable about dragons."
(OOC: Valas obviously would be better off staying inside the keep, but he could give Evendur the help action and perhaps it would be interesting as a scholar to talk to a dragon ;-)
(OOC: Are there still enemies just outside the keep? Is there room there for our sign and a dragon landing? Team, if so, should we take the enemies out first or just try to parley from the top of the tower? Thanks!)
(OOC: Agree on Valas providing Help outside with Sir Evendur.)
"I can't pass up this opportunity to meet a blue" comments Valas. "I'll join you."
(OOC: Negotiating with the dragon without any interference of its servants seems better, but perhaps not necessary. Could the courtyard be cleared, townsfolk be sent into the tunnel so that the dragon could land and negotiate within the keep? Or is that just too crazy?)
Sir Evendur is not one for contemplation. "Castellan, clear the courtyard and place the parley sign in the middle of it, and perhaps some torches around it so that the dragon won´t miss it on its next pass. Wise Valas, are you ready for an interesting conversation? Companions, you will surely notice if the negotiations go awry, any help at that point would be most appreciated, but the survival of the townsfolk is paramount. And may Torm be with us all."
(OOC: Sorry if this seems too crazy, there is still time to stop it all but perhaps it´s our best shot at this. Evendur wouldn´t be a LG paladin if he wasn´t prepared to sacrifice himslf for the townsfolk, but hopefully it won´t come to that)
Kendes sighs and shakes his head. "I will hide and attempt to watch the negotiations. I'm really not sure what help they'll be, but at the very least I'll be able to relay the results of it to the townspeople." He doesn't mention the unspoken "if you both die to the dragon" involved in that.
(Kendes will hide on the outskirts of the courtyard, inside one of the buildings, to watch and listen. He'll have in mind the quickest route to the mayor in order to report on the results of the negotiations, should things go south)
(OOC: Haha yeah it's a bit nutty but any encounter with a dragon at level 1 would be, right? I suppose we could avoid the dragon altogether, but if we are to have any encounter with it, I figure why not talk first. We can always attack it later. At least it fits with Valas and his interest in first hand study of anything from kobold to fully grown dragon!)
Valas gives Sir Evendur a confident nod to confirm that he's ready. As the sign is laid out after being painted with the draconic equivalent of "parley?" he quietly remarks "and now we wait."
"As I understand my promise to the Governor, the town can be just as rid of the dragon by us making a deal with it as any other way." Kosef will wait with Valas and Sir Evendur. He doesn't expect to understand the conversation. "It would be a great thing to behead a dragon. Someday. If we live through this."
The dragon flies by the keep, ready to make another attack. It spots the message, and flies into the courtyard. It looks at everyone assembled before it in an irritated way, and says, "What?" in draconic. After it speaks the air smells strongly of ozone.
For Kipio
Once the dragon comes into close range it seems very familiar to Kipio. He recognizes it as one of the dragons who attacked Kyphon.

Sir Evendur takes a firm step toward the dragon, only now realizing they are quite enormous, and answers in draconic.
"Great Lennitho*cough*, I am Sir Evendur Archebolde and these are my companions. Our purpose is to negotiate a deal that will spare the rest of the townsfolk of Greenest. As you can see I am a follower of Torm the loyal fury and thus I will keep any promise I will make here tonight, or die trying."
Short dramatic pause
"We are aware that your objective here tonight is to gather a hoard of treasure for your goddess Tiamat, and your servants have surely taken whatever valuables these townsfolk possess by now. Hence there will be no need to further waste your mighty breath on these walls."
Another short dramatic pause.
"The terror you have spread over Greenest this night will never be forgotten, yet the more townsfolk that will survive the faster the tale will spread about your undeniable might."
And finally.
"Our deal is this..." Evendur produces the eight loose azurites and shows them to the dragon "...take these and leave Greenest forever and you still have served your queen to the fullest and the tale of your terror will echo through eternity."
Persuasion: 20
(OOC: Evendur can be a bit dramatic at times. If anythiing of this seemed as a good argument then we will say that it was Valas´idea, hence rationalizing the help action.)
Valas waits in quiet anticipation once the sign is in place. Private he is immensely excited for this opportunity to meet a real live dragon, questioning his own judgement if this ploy leads to a sudden and unremarkable death and sick to his stomach with pure fear all at once.
When the dragon does indeed land and even speaks, the young elf takes a deep breath and uses one had to try to stop the other from trembling. He then steps out to meet his fate along with Sir Evendur.
In draconic Valas follows up what Sir Evendur started, kneeling on one knee and lowering his gaze to speak to the dragon. "Mighty one, my name is Valas and it is an honor to be in your presence despite that even now my hands cannot cease their shaking. What noble Sir Evendur says is true, and I do not know him capable of trickery, much less trickery that could fool you."
He continues. "All in this keep tremble in fear of your presence, and all speak of your impressive might. Many do not know your name to properly tell the tale, however, so I humbly ask if we may know who makes us tremble so, who makes us forget our courage, who makes us stare into the face of death, and who now decides our fate."
Kendes looks on, his lip curled half in disgust and half in utmost disappointment at the fawning, particularly of Valas, over the dragon. Yes, it is mighty, and yes, it strikes fear into his heart. But he thinks of the scared townsfolk he saw tonight, and thinks of the rotten deal being made. What town will suffer because of this? I always looked away, thought my actions didn't have consequences. Now I am seeing those consequences dying and their livelihood destroyed before me. And we now bargain to send this curse to another innocent town, and spread this darkness. It's not right. This is foolishness!
His hand tightens around his spear, and his blood beats loud and heavy in his ears, but he forces himself to hold still, quelling the burgeoning anger in his chest and watching the other two honey their words.
Kosef stares. Even at the distance he stands from the dragon, it is big. Maybe gigantic. Its wings blocked the sun, raised a cloud of grit, and Kosef felt the ground quiver as it landed. Heavy scales. An eye that might be as big as his head. A thick-necked thing. He doesn't understand the sounds his colleagues make. Must be a language.
He holds the pommel of his sword in both hands at about shoulder height , its point in the earth in front of him, and hopes these are not his last breaths.

Evendur has not heard of a dragon by either name, and the names appear to have no special meaning.
Valas too tries to remember if either name or a close variant matches his knowledge of known living dragons: 18

Enemies are still waiting outside the keep. There is a lot of open space where a sign could be displayed and a dragon could land.
(OOC: Negotiating with the dragon without any interference of its servants seems better, but perhaps not necessary. Could the courtyard be cleared, townsfolk be sent into the tunnel so that the dragon could land and negotiate within the keep? Or is that just too crazy?)
Between the tunnel and the keep's cellar there is enough space to hide the townspeople. The courtyard could be cleared.
