Opening the door to 13 you find it.... empty. Onto 15, Crudely executed symbols and glyphs, scribed in bright green dye, decorate this large and irregularly shaped crumbling chamber. A large pit in the center shows evidence of a recent fire. A metallic cage in the middle of the southern wall contains a gaping hole and stands empty. A small wooden bench draped with green cloth is next to the cage, and several small objects rest on it. A bedroll lies near the wooden bench, and the sound of whimpering comes from inside it.
Kiori follows the group, shaking his head at the strange contraption "you can get water from a river, who needs to build something so complicated?". After Daerryl opens the door to room 15 he gets serious again. He approaches the bedroll and attunes to his divine senses again, suspicious of the creature inside.
OOC: Divine Sense. As an action, you can detect good and evil. Until the end of your next turn, you can sense anything affected by the hallow spell or know the location of any celestial, fiend, undead within 60 ft. that is not behind total cover.
The green dye seems to be paint. There are four containers with in on an alter along with a paintbrush. You also find four jade dragon statues.
As Selene approaches the blanket and takes a look underneath, she finds a small kobold. The creature is covered in scars and softly whimpering in it's sleep. Glancing up at the dye, Selene you recognize what is written. It says in draconic, "Here There Be Dragons."
When reading the draconic runes Selene turns to Kiori. "Well mighty Kiori, the runes warns of dragons, maybe you are getting closer to your glory, but be careful what you wish for, I would imagine Ashardalon as a dracolich would be a terrifying opponent"
Then Selene finds the whimpering Kobold under the blanket and immediately feel pity for the creature. She recalls kobolds use the language of dragons and tries to softly wake it up speaking gently in draconic. "Please little one, don´t be afraid, you will suffer no more"
(OOC: Can I just keep the earlier persuasion roll to calm and gain trust?)
"Finally we are getting closer to a worthy adversary" Kiori replies. While Selene tends to the kobold, he would go and look at the cage, trying to figure out if it was broken from the inside by whatever was trapped there or from the outside.
Raadox enters the room last, his Dispel Magic hopefully still going (10 minutes, concentration). If so he scans the room for any signs of magical emanations. He will have a look at the green cloth (what is it?) and the four jade statues, checking their value and if they are anything other than what they appear.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Selene turns slightly to Daerryl and says in a warm voice with just a tint of sarcasm.
"Well Daerryl, thank you for pointing that out, perhaps he doesn´t have to deal with a gnome then, at least not one this close pointing an arrow at him. Now, would you mind terribly to go and help Raadox with thoroughly investigating some far part of this chamber and I will make sure not to interrupt you, Kiori will be able to protect me from this kobold I think"
Selene then turns back to the whimpering kobold and switches back to draconic. Insight to determine if kobold is truthful:24
"Who did you loose? Something broke free from that cage? Perhaps we can help you find him, if you would let us help"
Hm, an opportunity perhaps A plan is starting to take shape in Selenes mind. This is not so different from the scheming of the courts of Silverymoon she thought.
"I am Selene by the way. I am here with my escorts to find a mysterious tree also in possession of the wretched goblins you speak of. It would seem that we have a common enemy. Perhaps we should help each other out. Now tell me about this place. I want to know everything"Selene prudently decides not to mention Kioris dragon hunting quest.
(OOC:Tell me wheneveryou want another roll)
If the kobold agrees to some kind of cooperation Selenes says, still in draconic "Take a moment to think this over while I explain our new alliance to my escorts"
Selene then quickly tries to gather the others and explains in common making sure the kobold can´t hear her "Listen gentlemen, I have an idea, I know this is asking a lot of you in particular Daerryl, but if we could put our enmity with the kobolds aside for a while we could get help with reaching our different goals down here. The kobolds dragon, apparently a very small white one, was stolen by the goblins. We could perhaps use the kobolds for information and as allies in a battle with the goblins. What do you say?"
"My name is Meepo.... Meepo don’t know, but Yusdrayl does. Meepo take you to meet Yusdrayl, our leader, if you make nice. You get safe passage, if you promise to make nice. Maybe if you promise to rescue dragon, Yusdrayl make nice to you, answer questions.”
Well not too nice I hope, Selene thinks to herself listening to the kobold. "Nice to meet you Meepo. So where is Yusdrayl and how many are you in your clan Meepo, since you don´t take the dragon back yourselves?"
To the others: "You may be right of course Daerryl, but I think we at least should get as much information as possible while being wary of betrayals. These kobolds are in a good position to possess vital information regarding not only the mysterious tree, but dragons, lost adventurers and hidden treasures within the citadel. This is not an easy decision though. How do you feel about my proposition" Selene turns to Kiori and Raadox.
Raadox smiles a broad smile. "Always happy to take advantage of... sorry, to make the acquaintance of some extra help. Even if they are kobolds. I can't see any downside to it."
"Maybe if you promise to rescue dragon, Yusdrayl make nice to you, answer questions.” Meepo snuffles as they get up and wrap the blanket around them. They then start shuffling towards the door.
"I also can't see any downside to letting the lovely mini-dragon lead the way," mentions Raadox to the group. Then sotto-voce he adds, "As he can spring all the traps and get ambushed by the goblins scouts who are probably out there somewhere..."

Selene moves quickly to better see, from the light of her torch, the source of the whimpering, wanting to save the creature from it´s suffering.

Kiori, it seems to have been broken from the outside.
Selene it takes you a while to actually wake up the kobold. He responds to you by saying in draconic, "No, I will. I lost him,"
Daerryl realizes it’s a kobold and points an arrow at it.
”Be advised, that creature is not going to be happy to deal with a gnome.”

You see nothing magical in the room. You do however find what appears to be white scales in the cage.
The kobold seems pretty honest. “The clan’s dragon … we lost it. The wretched goblins stole Calcryx, our dragon!”
Raadox will pick up the scales and examine them closely. "Dragon scales? I think these are dragon scales...Little ones, granted, but all the same."
