Zenodor [...] uncovers a length of char blackened wood which seems out of place in this treasure room and when he picks it up to examine it further he realizes it is a rod with a clean, white skull affixed to one end.
Zenodor keeps hold of the interesting staff, determined to look into it later once they are finished with the recovery of as much treasure as possible. He expects that this much money will go a long way to undoing the damage the dracolich and its minions have inflicted. They can probably easily afford to restore the villages and other areas that were destroyed
After 5 minutes (short rest) of examining the staff Temp is able to identify it as a Staff of Thunder and Lightning and is able to attune to it if you wish to do so.

"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”
Unfurling the flying carpet so he has a good level place to set the treasure and help Zenodor move it, Randall starts directing it to help his friend move the treasure as he desires.
Once that is underway, Randall begins changing out of his armor and putting on the new armor with the shield rune.
(Any news on the armor?)

It is indeed a charred-black rod with a skull affixed to the end, upon Zenodor spending some time with it you find it to be a Rod of the Pact Keeper +3 and you can attune to it.

Zenodor digs around in the now soaking wet treasure and leftovers and after a while finds a very rare Rod of the Pact Keeper. He is delighted with this find, and wonders what twist of fate arranged for each of them to find such suitable and powerful items. However, he feels a pang of regret that he will not really be able to use all the items he now possesses and will have to store or sell some (ie he can only attune to 3 things).
He then also grabs any easily accessible gold and valuables but does not spend a huge amount of time on this.
He thanks the Battleforce Angel: "We hope you are satisfied with our part of the bargain being completed - but I fear we are in your debt again for the many useful items we have found here that will aid us in our quest. May we inquire what it is that you were after, and if there is anything further we can do to help you?"
(Z already has one of those from an earlier encounter. Could I get something else?)
(Doesn't need to be super powerful or even something useful for combat. Maybe something like Hither-Tither staff for shenanigans, or Rod of Security as an emergency escape?)
(ooc: the Hither-Thither staff sounds like it's from 'The Wild Beyond the Witchlight?')

(I think it's actually from the "Honour Among Thieves" D&D movie. And they then added it to DnD. Anyway, unless you want me to pick an item, I'm happy to leave it to you to pick something. I don't particularly care about it being something very powerful - weird and fun does just as well. I just wanted to request not to get a duplicate item.)
(ooc: yeah, sorry about duplicating, sometimes it happens, of course you can have a hither-thither staff as it doesn't interfere with me wanting you to have a rod, hopefully this time I'll remember it, lol.)

Z is very happy with his new find. Just to try it out, he uses it to put one portal onto the floor of the treasury (by the bottom of the biggest pile he can find), and the corresponding portal onto the roof of his 30ft cubing demiplane room. He expects that this will make it much quicker to fill up their own treasury as he can now just push/shovel the pile into the hole.
Tempe sighs, looking at all the work to be done, he says a few arcane words and summons 8 baboons, commanding them to move the treasure into the porthole.

Tempe decides to, take time to investigate the staff, further, while putting away the ring of the ram.

Tempe attunes to the staff, while watching the others. "I suppose, more than one kind of element, is helpful, in a battle"
