I propose for consideration to you captains - leave the box here guarded, warded and safe.  Try and get the Shaman here - at least until we feel safe enough to trust him.   We could even set up a decoy box.  We yet know the true value or power of this box.

No, if we bring an empty chest to the shaman of a tribe of half-orcs, and he opens it, he would take it as a great personal offense. We wouldn't make it out alive. I don't think the shaman would come here, people in power often like to be catered to. No, we should take the box with us. Though I do like your train of thought though, really piratey. ;)

As you walk through the village towards the shaman's house, which is built on a hill high up above the village, you begin to get strange looks. This village is fairly isolated, and they don't get very many traders stopping by, and they eye your gear with great curiosity.

Everyone roll Perception to make sure no thieves are sneaking up on you, just to let them know that you're watching them.

Allright then let's go get this box stol-- coughs, clears throat, er opened.  I am dying to see what it contains.

You don't see any thieves as you walk down the street. However, two orcs jump off a roof and try to grab the bag with the box in it.

Ceesh, roll a strength saving throw to keep the bag, and everyone roll initiative.

 Sure.. I guess the fox was in the bag too. The fox shares your initiative in combat, btw.
