about to start ritually casting detect magic Robin pauses and would smile as another member of the crew already seemed to be doing so. She would nod to them in respect and wait for them to tell her what is magical and what is not.
Cass says”aye- if Yer part of our crew, Ye share in the spoils. ceesh and Me ave a ‘need afore greed ‘ policy- if ye have a need fer an item, and it helps the crew fer Ye to ‘ave it, it be yers to use. But if Ye leave the crew Ye give it back.”
The Detect Magic reveals a strong presence at the bottom of the pile. One of the chests seems to have a good bit of magic inside it.

(OOC Cass has an automatic pistol +1 and a light crossbow +1someone can have, or she can trade for stuff she needs. she’s better off using spells)
(This offer was made before “Birdie” joined the crew. He is a ranged fighter and is kinda old-school. But next level he could go Gunner feat instead of Crossbow Expert to pick up the proficiency in firearms. Just a thought.)
"Want me to check out the chest there?" Robin asks, once the magic coming from the chest is mentioned. "I do have some knowledge of such, so would not mind taking a look, though I wouldn't be opposed to someone checking the thing for traps first..."
“Birdie” gratefully accepts the pistol. He turns it this way and that always keeping the barrel pointed down and away from others.
”Thank you, Captain. I’ll take good care of this.”
He’ll continue to study it and will only stow it in his belt when he is sure that there could be no accidental misfire, whether that means unloading it or finding and activating a safety.
(@DM, are we recording ammunition? I do not see an amount in Cass’ inventory to transfer.)
(I think there is an amount in the log here somewhere, . I think it is was 32 bullets. D&D beyond needs better tools for this. I’ll pull the gun off Cass’ inventory)
(I found in post #2321 a +1 revolver and 31 bullets. “Birdie” is updating his inventory from “Pistol, Automatic +1” to “Revolver +1”. The damage and ammo capacity are slightly different. If I am understanding the properties of shooting, the revolver has 6 shots before it needs to be reloaded. Please correct me if I am wrong. Also are we using the misfire mechanic? I’m still trying to wrap my mind around gunfire in D&D.)
(OOC- well there is both an automatic pistol and a revolver both +1 in there someplace! Need a search tool for posts. No in 5e it’s just like a magic weapon of sorts- not like pathfinder had. As for technology in dnd it’s DM call- While most of us are low tech, the crimsons are high technology.)

( I don't really understand gunfire that much either, having never used a gun in-game before.)

(To further the inquiry, +1 weapons and I imagine +1 spellcasting focii are uncommon magic items. If the armor can be magical, can it be uncommon, as well?)
If it is an armor, weapon, or spellcasting focus that is both green and is named "+1", you can have it.

When it is “Birdie”s turn to search the chest, he is amazed at the wondrous items. He gently sets some aside as he digs deep into the chest. His eyes widen as he spots a beautiful set of scalemail armor. Its colors are muted in the bottom of the chest, but there is something keenly magical about its construction. With what light does illuminate it, it appears to shimmer slightly and the scales themselves seem translucent, picking up and reflecting slightly the colors that surround it. As he raises it to direct sunlight, the scales seem to change color slightly depending on the angle from which it is viewed. Overall, the scales range from storm cloud gray to sea foam green to deep deep blue and the colors shift as the armor is rotated and inspected.
”This is marvelous, and appears to be a perfect fit.” He says mostly to himself.
He will waste no time replacing his studded leather armor with this new treasure.
"I'd be happy to see what I can learn of the items." Robin agrees, moving with the others to take a look at the loot.

(OOC, Cool stash!) Cassandra casts detect magic, and scans everything…
Western Wind looks at the items on the ship. "We are allowed to keep this, correct?"
(OOC if you already mentioned whether or not these items are our property, I didn't notice)

The chest's lock is broken, it was probably handled quite roughly when being removed from the ship. Inside it is a glittering array of weapons.
(All players may take one common rarity +1 weapon, +1 spellcasting focus, or armor of their choice)
