I personally don't adhere to that rule because I'm a nice DM and try not to kill my characters. Except the Vampire's castle game I'm running. Those guys are dead.

We will sell the jewelry, the emerald and the fine gold chain (after Cassandra double checks to make sure nothing is magical).  

We will keep the books, wine and clothes for now.    Cassandra and Ceesh will Look through the books- anything of interest?

we will buy 2 more potions of healing if they are available.  Cassandra will carry 2, some should stay with the Skipping Stone- good item to have on your person.

once the ballista is installed, and we train with it some, weather permitting, we will sail both boats together to the half orc village.  

You can take the jewels and chains to a jeweler to sell for 1194 GP (nothing magical). 

The books however, contain a sizeable amount of knowledge with large volumes on the skills of different professions, trades, military tactics, and accounts of famous warriors. Surely there is much to learn if you have some downtime.

Potions of healing are 50 each, but can be bought in bulk 10 for 400.

That would leave us with 100 gp if we bought 30. You never can have to much healing when you live as an adventurer. I will of course consult Cass first.

Cassandra thinks we should keep the books, the clothes, and maybe buy 20 potions of healing.  She wants to ensure we have some gold in case we need it to pay the shaman, or other things. 

everyone should carry on your person 2 potions of healing- and use them on yourself or others as needed- Cass will say. 

Sounds good, I agree.

18 potions of healing (cass took 2)  everyone else take 2 and we will split the reminder among the boats.

Valuable book collection 

7 suits of fine clothes

a signet ring for an Earl (cass has)

a silvered rapier (Ceesh has)

Update your character sheets with your new armor, potions, etc.   don’t be shy to use potions on yourself or allies.   2d4+2 damage healing.

 Yes-  platinum can have some RP value with impressing locals.  Kind of like paying with $1000 bills. :)

The thief is the same drunken backpack-stealer from the bar. He's had some bad luck at picking targets today.

Cassandra yells” Aye it’s you again!   Drop it or I’ll put ye outa  our misery!”

She raises her blade to his throat.
