"Aye, I will at tha', thank ye' kindly Caldur." Zyllith nodded in agreement with his words. She then reached in and pulled out the contents of the chest, studying the vials carefully first then picking up the jade pendant. "Seems I'll be tradin' one fine necklace fer another. Worry not, tho', we'll be sure ta' put these ta' good use. Got a bit o' what ye might call 'A Giant Problem' whot we'll be dealin' wit' soon enough." She took a moment still appreciating the pendant before she continued, "This is a rioght treasure, mate. Cannae thank ye' enough fer tha' offer. Did ye' happen to have any notes on whot all this might be used fer?"
With a stoic expression, Ovina nods slowly as Vernon speaks. She then pauses, as if carefully considering the gnome’s response, the break lasting for an awkward few seconds. Her cheeks begin to puff up as her face begins to contort and twist into a wide smile, and then she bursts out into a hearty fit of cheer-filled laughter.
”Bwaaaaahhaaaaahaaaahaaaaa!!”
”Oi… got you good, there, didn’t I?! Hahaha!! Wasn’t sure I could hold me self together without bustin’ out too early!”
”Made it all up, luv. Yer hammer wann’t no gift from the gods, but rest assured, it does have a good history, moreso than most. It was made by the dwarves of Clan Brightblade who came from Daggerdale. Ceremonial weapon, crafted and given to young dwarves who came of age as warriors in training. That’s why it’s sized perfectly for your lil’ gnome hands, but it’s the real deal and in the right grip, it’ll fell any goblin, orc, or giant who comes across it.”
”Sounds like you got the touch and the heart to go with it, my stout little friend, an’ if you been takin’ down giants with it, then you’ve already given it more action than it’s probably ever seen, cause I don’t think too many younger dwarf trainees took down giant kind back when these were given out.”
”You got a piece o’ history here, and I’d be honored to restore it to its original condition. Like I said, take me a few days, but I think I can get it right.”
Arisa says “It’s amazing, thank you- truly stunning work. I hope to do it, your shop, and Mystra honor in wearing it. Yes I would like to put it on- these days, I feel strangely defenseless without armor on.”
She puts the armor on and gets some tips for donning and doffing quickly from the experts, then heads out of the shop, suddenly self- conscious at the condition of her weathered blue traveling cloak. To avoid too much attention on the streets, (While thinking ironically how empty her purse is at the moment) she pulls her cloak around her and walks directly back to the Blue Ewe, using her staff as a walking stick and getting used to the weight of the armor with her shield and pack.
Siobhan moves into an alley to return to her natural form and approaches the firbolg man. She restrains herself from running toward him but is overjoyed at the sight first of her kind she’s seen in a long time. Once she is close enough, she calls out to him in Giant: “Greetings, fellow child of the forest. I am Siobhan and it has been long since I have seen another like me. Would you stop and speak a moment?” There is so much more she wishes to ask, but again the cautious restraint she learned in Barovia enforces her reserve.
"I'm afraid that's out of my realm of knowledge, m'lady. But you seem like a resourceful and well-traveled person; I'm sure you'll figure out how to make the best use of those items. At any rate, you are most welcome, and if you do see young Zi again, please give her my best."
---------
Siobhan
The other firbolg turns his head to see who it is that's addressing him. Seeing you, he raises his bushy eyebrows and says in a warm voice, "Greetings to you as well, child. Yes! Please do come converse with me! I am called Dreali."
--------
Arisa
"You're most welcome. May it protect you against whatever dangers you may find out in the world. Please visit us again if you have any more armor requirements, or if it needs to be adjusted, and be sure to recommend us to your companions, should they need to be outfitted as well."
"It has been our pleasure. Until next time, good bye and good fortune!"
Walking back to the Blue Ewe, Arisa can certainly feel the increased weight of the armor, compared to what she was used to. The distance from the shop back to the inn is much further than the practice circles she made around the inside of the store, and it does take some time to get accustomed to the vasty different amount of encumbrance and stiffness that this has compared to her old well-worn suit of studded leather.
However, it does wear extremely well, especially with its custom fit, and she finds that by the time she's made it back to the Ewe, she's already finding herself adapting to the new suit quite well. Upon entering the common room, she sees that her new 'friends' are still there, as are Elion and Shalvus.
Putting away the items in her pack, Zyllith gives Caldur a gracious bow. "Yer too kind. Whatever it might be, 'tis far more then I would'a hoped fer. I thank ye fer providin' this boon, as I thank Zi Liang fer entrustin' us wit' it. I'll ensure tha' trust is no' misplaced. Should luck be wit' us, I'll be sure ta' thank her in person some day as well. Then I'll be givin' her yer well-wishes too. 'Till then, may blessin's upon ye an' yers. I best return ta' tha rest o' tha' Aces. Good Eve, mate!"
With a few more polite waves goodbye, Zyllith would eventually make her way out of the estate. It was getting late in the day, and she had already accomplished much. Best to reunite with everyone back at the Ewe, she decided. With a cheerful step she quickly made her way back there.
She never did find a place to fix, or donate, her old rapier. Oh well, perhaps her companions would have a suggestion. Either way it was well past time they reunited for the night.
Caldiur bids his farewell, and when Zyllith returns to the Blue Ewe in the late afternoon, she finds Elion there and Shelves there in the common room, as well as Arisa, who appears to be wearing some brand new armor. She's covering most of it with her old, blue travelers cloak, but you can definitely see the glint of bright, shiny, polished steel peeking out from underneath the cloak. She's sitting with three other people, a dwarf, a half elf woman and a young human man. By their dress, you would guess them to be adventurers as well.
So far, Belkas, Vernon and Siobhan have not yet returned from their own errands.
Arisa smiles and says “ ahh here comes another of my friends, Zyllith! Zyllith- these adventurers stepped on a teleportation trap halfway across the world and landed right next to me today! I think you will love their tales!” She introduces all, and then watches the interaction with enjoyment. Occasionally she glances at the glint of the firelight on her new armor, in particular the holy symbol.
Belkas makes his way through the small narrow backstreets before heading up the Way of the Dragon in search of a jewelry shop. He feels naked and lighter, walking around without his armor for the first time since he escaped captivity.
When Belkas is about halfway up the last alley that leads to the larger, more open street, he sees two men up ahead walking down the way. He's passed a few other people in the narrow streets of the Dock Ward, so encountering other folks in the streets is not unusual. They look just as grungy as pretty much everyone else that he's seen down in this part of the city.
However, before they pass, when they're about ten or fifteen feet from him, they both stop and draw their blades, keeping their eyes on him. Then, suddenly, Belkas hears a gruff voice behind him.
"Not so fast there, cuz."
Glancing behind him, Belkas sees two more grungy street toughs about 15 feet behind him in the alley. The one who's speaking is a thick bodied, thick bearded man wearing a suit of dirty leather armor, and carrying a mace in his hand that he's swinging back and froth at his knees. The other guy is armed with a scimitar just like two in front of him.
"You must notta' heard. There's a price to pass through this alley. So, how's about you empty your pockets so's we can collect our toll and then we can all be on our way."
"Arisa!" Zyllith grins brightly back to her friend as she approaches the group, at which point she turns to greet the other adventurers cheerfully, "Greetings ta' ye, mates! 'Twould neva' turn down a tale o' fellow Adventurers! Whot sorta teleportation trap wuz it? From tha' sound o' thin's, tha's a might deadly trap indeed. 'magine if it teleported ye inta solid rock or tha' bottom o' tha' sea!" After she turns to Arisa to admire her new armor, "And looks like ye' did a might gran' job gettin' gear! 'Tis rioght beautiful tha'. And might sturdy too! If'n ye' like 'twould LOVE to show ye' whot gear I managed ta' acquire as well!" From the gleeful glint in her golden eyes, it was obvious Zyllith was excited to show off her new purshase.
Vernon looks slightly disappointed, then laughs with Ovina. "Would a gift from the gods have been corroded by mere oozes? But this one more thing. Is it payment, or this mysterious cheese I'd forgotten about?" He pulls out the cheese, shielding it from random passersby with his other hand.
Siobhan’s face splits into a wide grin. “Well met Drealis, I am Siobhan. This is the first city I have been in and am overjoyed to see another like me.” She pauses a moment to collect her thoughts. Her people had had no need to name themselves or their lands - their home was the Forest, and they were simple the People who lived there. “Are there more firbolg near here? Is there a forest not far? I do not know these lands at all.”
Belkas smiles when he hears the gruff voice behind him. He had been expecting this for a while now.
"Of course. No problem at all. I don't want any problems."
To Crowley, he thinks, 'Could you turn visible and make a loud distraction right now? Stay more than 10 feet away from me, and we'll meet up on the main street.'
As the screaming imp becomes visible above them, Belkas cries, "What in the nine hells is that?" casts Thunder Step, and with a reverberating boom, teleports himself to a shadowy recess around 90 feet in the direction of the main street. He then steps out calmly and merges into the mix of pedestrians who are looking down the alley in surprise.
Ovina laughs, "Wouldn't know... I try to keep my own hammer away from oozes!"
Upon seeing the cheese, she marvels, "Now, that's some roight stinky cheese ya got there! I don't know many gnomes who carry 'round hunks o' the good dwarven stuff. Where'd you get it?"
"And that other thing? It ain't about the cheese, but then again, maybe it is, hon," she winks. "How's about you and I go an' drink some nice heavy beers together and we can talk about it?"
----------------
Belkas
The distraction works perfectly. As the imp appears just overhead and lets out an abyssal scream, all four of the thugs look up at it, giving Belkas the perfect opportunity to cast his spell. A few seconds later, admits a loud, thunderous boom, he disappears from sight and reappears at the end of the alley, where he steps out and blends right the crowd of merchants and street goers on the Way of the Dragon.
When Crowley catches up to him, he can hear the imp's voice in his head, detailing how two the thugs were blown back into the wall and apparently suffered fatal damage from the spell. The other two were certainly injured, but didn't perish.
From there, it's a long walk up the Way back to the Trade Ward and the Blue Ewe.
--------------
Siobhan
The other firbolg responds, "I am pleased to meet you as well, Siobhan. Ah... a city tenderfoot, I see! We are indeed rare to places like this. There are some like me who wander, and some who even have lives here in the city, but I do not know of groups of firbolgs that gather together in this place. But I am not the best one to ask, as I often travel alone."
"Most of the areas around the city are farmland for the humans, so I do not know of any large forests nearby. There are many woods far outside of the city, though... many indeed if you were to travel in any direction."
"Where have you come from, Siobhan, and what brought you here?"
--------------
Zyllith and Arisa
You listen to the dwarf Adrik tell his one of his stories about fighting trolls in the Evermoors, while he tries not to spill ale all over himself.
"...and then I swing hard with me axe and chopped off both arms in one fell swoop!! 'Course, that only gave me more trouble, now I had an armless troll tryin' to bite me, while his two arms were crawlin' on the ground tryin' to scratch me legs!!"
"I never thought of a teleportation trap to be deadly, just really inconvenient! Can't say that Devyn here thinks the same. He's probably thrilled that we were suddenly transported 500 miles somewhere else! But yea, wouldn't want to get teleported into the middle of a big hunk o' stone."
Adrik and Eileen are full of stories like these, sharing tales of their exploits hunting for magical items, lost towers, dungeons and, of course, their latest adventure on the Moonshae Isles, looking for one of the Horns of Valhalla. Devyn doesn't tell many stories, he mostly listens, but will answer questions. He does love to travel, and will certainly talk of places that he's seen and the importance of going to many different locations in the world.
Eileen seems very interested to hear about Zyllith's latest acquisition, and of course, your own recent travels and exploits.
"Zyllith, you've obviously seen a few places, because you clearly had to travel quite a way from the Sea of Fallen Stars to get here. I'd love to hear about some of your own adventures."
"Oi! Believe me mate! I luv nothin' more than sharin' tales o' adventures." Zyllith replied gleefully, absolutely happy enjoying the company of fellow adventurers, "Why I'm shocked Arisa 'ere has yet ta' regail ye wit' tha' tale o' our last gran' battle in Goldenfields! We fought giants, an' goblins, an' goblin chukin' orges!" With that Zyllith begins telling the tale of the recent attack on Goldenfields and the group's subsequent battle in the defense thereof. Obviously she adds a great deal of flourish to the tale to make it as grand as possible while still keeping it within the realm of truth.
As soon as she sees others showing an interest in her new gear she eagerly pulls out her new rapier, showing off the high craftsmanship and artistic details, even using it as a prop as she continues to tell her tale. "And so I slashed tha' back o' tha knee o' one ogre, moments 'fore tha' brute was engulfed in Belkas' flames! Then like lightnin' I came upon tha' last orge and burried me rapier rioght through it's heart! The 'fout o' blood whot sprayed from it's body after I removed me blade was akin ta' a rainbow o' death 'cross tha' sky 'fore it's heavy body slump on tha' ground with a massive thump! By then tha' battle was already won, whot greenskins tha' didnae already run away were dead or captured. Tha' battle ground 'round us a'glow in mornin's light!"
There is a moment before Siobhan finds the words to answer Drealis. “I .. do not know. My tribe and my circle were of the Forest and we needed no other name. I knew there were other folk in the world beyond our woods, but none came as deep in as we were. I would not have left but for the mists that took my to another realm - Barovia was its name - and only weeks ago those same mists took me from those I’d met there and to a place called Goldenfields.” Siobhan pauses. Saying this all out loud reminds her how far she is from home and how long it has been. She shakes herself and continues. “A fellow druid guided me to new companions and I have followed them here.”
( p.s. actually just noticed there were two rolls in there, not sure why? the other roll was a 5 )
Arisa helps with telling the tale, giving advantage, and sneaks in a little prayer to Mystra for 2 hoping to inspire some others on the concerns with the Giants.
Vernon replies to Ovina, "Yes, please. I can wait the few days for the engravings. A weapon of this lineage should be kept in tip-top shape."

Vernon
With a stoic expression, Ovina nods slowly as Vernon speaks. She then pauses, as if carefully considering the gnome’s response, the break lasting for an awkward few seconds. Her cheeks begin to puff up as her face begins to contort and twist into a wide smile, and then she bursts out into a hearty fit of cheer-filled laughter.
”Bwaaaaahhaaaaahaaaahaaaaa!!”
”Oi… got you good, there, didn’t I?! Hahaha!! Wasn’t sure I could hold me self together without bustin’ out too early!”

“There’s just one more thing…”
Arisa says “It’s amazing, thank you- truly stunning work. I hope to do it, your shop, and Mystra honor in wearing it. Yes I would like to put it on- these days, I feel strangely defenseless without armor on.”
She puts the armor on and gets some tips for donning and doffing quickly from the experts, then heads out of the shop, suddenly self- conscious at the condition of her weathered blue traveling cloak. "I'm afraid that's out of my realm of knowledge, m'lady. But you seem like a resourceful and well-traveled person; I'm sure you'll figure out how to make the best use of those items. At any rate, you are most welcome, and if you do see young Zi again, please give her my best."

Walking back to the Blue Ewe, Arisa can certainly feel the increased weight of the armor, compared to what she was used to.

Sylnache Ashrain - 7th Sojourn
Arisa helps with telling the tale, giving advantage, and sneaks in a little prayer to Mystra for 2 hoping to inspire some others on the concerns with the Giants.
(So 23 on Zyllith’s performance check for what it’s worth)
