The woman listens with a furled brow, especially at the mention of the plot involving giants, being the ancient enemies of the dragonkind. You notice that when she sits up, she's not quite as frumpy as she appeared at first. There is an attractiveness about her, although she seems to keep it somewhat hidden. At any rate, she responds in a friendly tone.
"Arisa, cleric of Mystra, I am Evelina, Cleric of Tyr. Good tidings to you and your companions. I have heard of the ancient struggle between those dim-witted giants and the mighty dragonkind. It is even more concerning to hear the there have been coordinated attacks with giants, goblins and ogres in the region."
"Conspiring to meet with a green dragon indeed sounds like a fool's errand, at least on the surface. Alas, these are desperate times, if the giants are rising up again and intend to restart the war of old. Perhaps it is not foolishness, but cleverness and resourcefulness that causes you to seek ingenious solutions to large problems."
"Dragons of all kinds, even those who live with with evil ways, know many things about the world. They are creatures with long lives and even longer memories, and they have been known to share bits of their knowledge with lesser folk, sometimes for a price, and sometimes simply because they enjoy pulling the strings that affect the lives of other creatures, whether they consider them enemies or not."
"If you are to meet with this dragon, I would urge you to exercise caution on your part, and at the utmost, show humbleness and respect. Of course, this would apply to any dragon, even if you were to meet with a good-aligned dragon. Do not concern yourself with trying to understand their motives, for that may be a futile effort, and one that may not gain you anything. Simply gather whatever information can be gleaned, and then decide for yourself how to proceed."
"It sounds like you have played a part in these events of late with the giants. What has led you to pursue this further, Arisa, Cleric of Mystra?"
Arisa briefly summarizes their adventures so far, and the various clues they have found. She concludes by saying “I feel called to do what I can to stop this. Your advice on the dragon is certainly welcome. I plan to do the talking myself, although speaking isn’t a strong skill for me! We were told a female might have better luck with her, and I will certainly be… deferential. Sometimes duty calls us to do things that are risky. I am prepared to face the consequences”.
"Ach, Arisa luv, jus' cause I donnae agree wit' riskin' our hide ta' this dragon donnae mean I'mma let ye do it all by yerself." Zyllith reminds her with a playful giggle, "I'm no' only female, but also got a lovely set o' horns an' tail whot this green beastie might appreciate." After a wink and a smirk the tiefling added, "More ta' the point, perhaps me tongue is better suited fer tha' task." She then turned the other cleric giving her a more decerning gaze, "Whot of ye, Evelina, Cleric o' Tyr? Where's yer intrest in all this? Tis simply a sense o' duty whot brings ye ta' act, or tis something more what led ye' ta' persue this as well? Don' mean ta' be rude, mind, but as ye've claimed yerself, cannae be too careful when it comes ta' dragons. Aye?"
Evelina answers Zyllith's inquiry. "I take an interest because I am a loyal follower to my god who seeks to further the law and good in the world, especially against those who practice wanton destruction, as the giants have clearly displayed of late. I have learned that trying to make the world a better place comes not from being perfect ourselves, but through an extended family of like minded brothers and sisters who fight against such evil deeds and act out of trust, courage and love towards each other."
"Although I do not have a foot hold in this fight, at least not right now, it pleases and inspires me to meet others out in the world who profess those qualities I speak of and who carry the torch of goodness against the wanton forces of evil. I can live up to my tenants to help in any way I can and provide what answers and information I am able. I hope that I have done so this evening."
Arisa smiles warmly at Zylith. “You will be great at talking to her!” To Evelina, she says “thank you for your information and support. We will need the blessings of all the good powers, I believe, to be successful in this coming storm.”
Crowley continues to complain into Belkas' thoughts, 'You noticed she didn't even deign to acknowledge you spoke, didn't you? The wanton evil influences probably waft off you like perfume and offend her unsullied nose. If self-righteous homicides like her had their way, they'd kill off everyone that looks and talks and thinks differently. It would be a perfect utopia of homogeneity, love and utter boredom; once they disposed of all the dead bodies and cleaned the blood and entrails from their lily-white robes, of course.'
Evelina answers, "You are most welcome, good folk. I wish you the best of luck and good fortune with this task, and with your adventures ahead. If you should survive your meeting with this green dragon, then perhaps we will meet again, and you can tell me all about it, for I have never seen a real dragon before. I hear that the can be magnificent and terrible."
Zyllith nodded as she replied back to Evelina, "Aye, might be, coulda also been awkward, dependin' on tha' dragon in question. We've met a dragon no' a fortnight past, was a bit o' clumsy fellow, but well meanin', righteous, and eager to counter tha' Giant threat."
Throughout this whole conversation, Siobhan sips her tea and eats her stew. She has little to contribute; there is much her companions are discussing with this cleric that she does not understand. The green dragon they seek for aid is dangerous. Siobhan understands that as a fact. She does not know much about dragons but everything she has heard says they are powerful and intelligent predators that defend what is Theirs (be it land, knowledge, or gold) with ferocity.
But this dragon, who her companions and the cleric of Tyr call evil, does not sound to be in the practice of attacking innocents, destroying forests, or otherwise causing active harm which is what Siobhan understands as evil. Siobhan thinks there was more active evil in the city they just left. Outsiders are strange, she decides, and finishes her stew.
“Thank you for your information and best wishes. I have hope and faith in this mission. We’ve faced dangers before.” Arisa also returns to enjoy her food and small talk with the group.
Eveliina responds to you... even to Belkas. 😉 "You the same. Be well and be safe and perhaps we will meet again."
After you finish eating, drinking and visiting, you retire to the common sleeping room, where you find three other travelers fast asleep in their beds. There are ten bunks to each room, and so you take five of your own and lay down for the night. Sleep comes quickly, and after an uneventful night, you wake to the sound of a rooster crowing somewhere in the vicinity. Breakfast, which is also served by the dwarf, is eggs, sausage and crusty bread.
There aren't many people here this morning, and you see no signs of Evelina, and the only person you see who you recognize from last night is the younger woman with very the pale white skin, long, wavy brown hair, small nose piercing and spectacles.
Belkas wakes up feeling refreshed. He managed to pass the night without nightmares, which is unusual. Walking downstairs, he wishes a good morning to the young woman he recognizes from the previous evening. Seeing Arisa waiting for breakfast, he murmurs a few words and creates the illusion of a vase full of summer flowers in the middle of the table and sits beside her.
As Arisa and Belkas sit down at the table next to the young, pale skinned woman, she offers a slight smile and a brief nod of her head. When Belkas creates the illusion of the vase, she looks at it, and then briefly at him, before answering Arisa.
"Good morning to you, as well. I usually sleep quite well, and fortunately, nothing disturbed me last night."
"I overheard you speaking last night about going to speak with a dragon. That sounds like a very dangerous proposition, one that only fools would attempt, but perhaps the fact that you know the potential dangers, then perhaps you are not fools at all, but have carefully calculated the odds. Either way, it's certainly not place to pass judgment."
"By chance, are you heading up the Long Road today? If so, would you mind if I accompanied you? I'm on my way to Red Larch, which is two days from here, and numbers on the road is always safer."
“yes, we would welcome your company. I’m Arisa. We have our reasons for wanting to meet with her.. but Only time will tell if we were brave or foolish!” Arisa replies with a smile. “My companions and I are heading in that direction shortly- as soon as we finish this lovely meal. Belkas- your flowers are the perfect touch!”
"As Arisa says, company on the road is always welcome. I am Belkas, and at your service."
To Arisa, he says, "Thank you. Not quite as good as real flowers, but I would have had to have woken up earlier to go and search for them, so this is as good as we get."
When Siobhan joins them for breakfast, she sniffs the flowers and is visibly confused a moment before she sits down to the business of eating. She does smile at her companions and gives a nod to the other woman.
As she speaks, she pulls for a small, smooth, oval shaped stone. She taps its surface with a thin, pale finger, and suddenly, you smell the pleasant and fragrant aroma of freshly cut flowers. She then place the stone on the table next to the Belkas's illusion, smiles and and says,
Nice to meet you Ciri.” Arisa says and smiles at the scent. “I’ve not been this way in a long time. I came here as a young girl. The food is as good as I remember.”
