Arisa says “let’s go check out the ringing in the temple. It may be a trap- but it’s the only sign of life here”. She walks in the direction pointed out by the others.
”how could these boulders have landed here?, she wonders out loud. “They seem too big for a normal catapult from what i have read”.
Meanwhile hidden within the walls of the temple, Zyllith looks around at the mess before her. This was clearly a raid of some sort, however still not seeing any potential culprits, it was hard to say just what was responsible for this mess. After taking another careful look around she continued deeper into the temple, heading up to where ever the source of the still ringing bell seemed to be.
The rest of you move north and head towards the temple. As you get closer, you can see the large bronze bell rocking continuously back and forth at the top of the slender steeple. Set into the walls of the temple are a number of stained glass windows depicting images of birth, the dawning sun, trees, and unicorns. Continuing around to west side, you come right up to the outside of the building at the open door. As you were making your way here, you saw Zyllith disappear inside.
Zyllith
You do see a door on the opposite wall, near the bed, and it sounds very much as if the bell ringing is on the other side of it. If you'd like to open and look through that door, then give me another stealth check.
Vernon racks his brain, trying to recognize the deity to which this temple belongs based on the windows. If he does, he will make a silent prayer for permission and protection as he enters.
Arisa heads to the door and looks to see where the base of the bell tower is to find who is ringing the bell. Cautiously, she enters the temple, recasting her shillelagh right before she enters, and checking both sides of the interior of the door for ambushes.
Vernon know from the symbols on the stained glass windows that this temple is dedicated to both Lathander (god of the dawn) and Mielikki (goddess of forests.)
As the rest of you peek into the open door, you find your looking into a long, narrow 10’ x 20’ chamber that appears to be a bedroom, probably for the local acolyte, judging by its decor. There is a plain wooden bed along the east wall, and you can see that the mattress has been torn open and its straw pulled out. The floor is strewn with the contents of two wooden chests that appear to be priestly vestments and worthless personal effects.
Your eyes catch movement, and just as you look inside, you watch as your tiefling companion disappears behind another door that's set into the opposite wall, next to the bed.
Zyllith
Trying your best to be quiet as you open and look through the door, you almost catch your foot and end up making a slight noise. Thankfully, it's not enough to disturb the two smallish yellow-skinned, long-eared creatures that are gleefully swinging on a knotted rope that hangs from the bell in the steeple. (The door you just passed through is the access to the steeple.) The sound of the bell seems to delight delights the two goblins, and they are apparently too distracted to notice you as you peek inside.
Zyllith frowns as she considers her options in that moment. Facing these goblins alone is dangerous, but it might be worth while to get the drop on them. Besides she's fairly certain her companions are following behind, hopefully they'll be here before anything gets too dire.
Regardless it's clear these goblins have something to do with the state this town is in. Likewise it seems like a great opportunity to take advantage of the situation.

Arisa continues following the noise and Zyllith, she surveys the destruction and says “this is disturbing indeed!”. Moving quickly, she steps through the door on the far side of the room behind the Tiefling.
Vernon, dismayed by the mess, mutters a few more prayers, this time including Flandal Steelskin, since Lathander and Mielikki obviously don't have the situation under control.

Taking advantage of their obvious distraction, Zyllith quietly slips her rapier from its sheath and slinks towards the two goblins, the noise of the clanging bell masking any sound that she might make as she approaches in the dark.
When she's but a few feet away, the tiefling lunges forward and stabs one of the squat creatures right in the center of its back, killing it instantly. The goblin slumps to the ground without a sound, but its companion sees this happen, and with an twisted expression of anger and surprise, the second goblin lets go of the rope, yanks a scimitar from its belt and stabs wildly at the assailant. Zyllith suddenly finds herself on the defensive in the brief seconds it takes for her to pull her weapon from the goblin corprse.

Looking into the room, Belkas noticed the fallen goblin at Zyllith's feet and the other trying to kill her.
Belkas mumbled some words in Undercommon, and darkness flowed along his arm to pool in his right hand before shooting Ina crackling beam towards the standing goblin.
He then stepped back out of the room, still prepared for any goblins coming from behind the party.

Perhaps its his caution in trying to not hit his own companion, but Belkin watches the crackling blast fly forth from his hand and sail harmlessly past the goblin before slamming into wall behind and quickly dissipating in a bright fizzle.

Osmord moves forward and attempts to claw the yellow-skinned creature with his spell, but the slow tortle is too slow for the rather nimble goblin who evades his touch.
Surprised at the sudden invasion into his space, and furious at the tiefling who just killed his rope swinging companion, the goblin lashes out at Zyllith with is own scimitar. She's too quick, though and she easily parries the attack with her own weapon.
Attack: 22 Damage: 6
Right after that, Arisa sends a fire bolt at the goblin, but as with Belkas, her aim is slightly off and the flaming missile whizzes by, missing its target.
"I don't like these boulders." Vernon shudders. "It would be way too easy for a goblin to hide behind one." He holds his shield a little higher.
At Belkas's whisper, he peers towards the wheat. "More places for goblins to hide."

Belkas looked around outside one final time before following the others into the temple.
"This feels like a trap," he quietly said to Osmord.
Then to himself, he murmured an old childhood poem:
"Hear the loud alarum bells—
Brazen bells!
What tale of terror, now, their turbulency tells!
In the startled ear of night
How they scream out their affright!
Too much horrified to speak,
They can only shriek, shriek
Oh, the bells, bells, bells!
What a tale their terror tells
Of Despair!
How they clang, and clash, and roar!
What a horror they outpour
On the bosom of the palpitating air!
Keeping time, time, time,
As he knells, knells, knells,
In a happy Runic rhyme,
To the rolling of the bells—
Of the bells, bells, bells—
To the tolling of the bells,
Of the bells, bells, bells, bells—
Bells, bells, bells—
To the moaning and the groaning of the bells."
