With a cry of pain as the greataxe slams into her side, Arisa falls to the ground at Vernon’s feet. Blood pouring from her where the axe had reopened her earlier wound from a javelin blow...
Vernon, who had sent the horse back from the bridge when he realized how little space for maneuvers there was, will attempt to pull Arisa to her feet while using 1 HP of Lay on Hands to close the open wound. "Now is not the time to be on the ground. The Orcs are far too close for that!"
Arisa stands up woozily, and holds her shield high, briefly, she considers healing herself more, but seeing the Orcs right there, she reconsiders. Fully expecting to be struck down any second, she swings her staff with determination fueled by desperation....
cssting shillelagh as a bonus action-
8 to hit (would have been 9 damage)
She yells in anger and frustration as her swing misses the Orc. The tears and blood in her eyes obstructing her vision...
Osmord injures two of the three remaining orcs, his spectral hands clawing into their flesh with ghastly scrapes. Meanwhile, Vernon kneels down and lays his hands upon Arisa, bringing her back from the brink of death.
With one of the front line orcs having been blasted dead by Belkas, another steps up in its place, its aggression targeted at Vernon. Attack: 11 Damage: 10
The other orc behind turns and faces the two guards, hacking with devastating swings at Torem. Attack: 6 Damage: 4 The poor guard is cut down by the attack and falls to the ground, unconscious and bleeding.
Arisa stands back up on the front line, woozy from her severe injury and swings wildly with her staff, bashing with weak and ineffective desperation at one of the orcs.
Round 2
Initiative Order
Orc 1
Guard (Alara)
Orc 2 - injured, just cut down Osmord
Guard (Torem - Unconsicous)
Belkas
Osmord
Vernon
Orc 3 - Injured by Alana's javelin.
Orc 4 - Now in front, just cut down Vernon.
Arisa
Seeing the danger of the two backline spellcasters, the first orc pushes forward, trying to overrun the small gnome in an attempt to reach Belkas and Osmord.
Easily stepping over the fallen gnome, the orc charges Osmord, hacking with militant abandon at the tortle. Attack: 19 Damage: 11, cutting him down as well, leaving only Osmord, Arisa and the guard Alara standing to face the three remaining orcs.
Alara charges forward with her spear, lunging at the orc she already injured, taking advantage of her flanking position on the creature who's currently engaged with Arisa. Attack: 23 Damage: 5
She drives the point of her spear deeply into the orc's chest, impaling it. The creature exhales one desperate, bloody cough as it dies.
Belkas is up. (I meant to say that only Belkas and Arisa are left currently standing.)
Zyllith
Following Xolkin and Kella with near invisible stealth as they wander behind the temple, Zyllith hears a bit of the conversation between the two people. She can't pick out much, but the gist of it is that things have not gone as planned, but that perhaps they can take advantage of these complications.
Belkas can smell the hulking orc's reeking sweat and body odor as it cuts down Osmord get cut down right next to him. Blasting the creature with another spell, he burns a deep hole in the orc's side, and with his Repelling Blast, he knocks the orc off of the bridge. The orc bounces with a thud on the steep hillside directly below before sliding back into the water, still alive, but injured.
(There is still one orc left, the one standing in front of Arisa. I had updated the above initiate order after Alana killed the orc with her spear.)
Just as he watches the orc fall, he hears a noise behind him. It's the other two guards, who heard the commotion as they were crossing towards the gate, but then turned and sprinted back. Sydiri throws a javelin over Belkas's shoulder at the orc that's standing in front of Arisa, Attack: 22 Damage: 5 while Kaelen rushes up next to him. Standing over Osmord's fallen body, she uses both hands to jam the spear at the orc's chest. Attack: 11 Damage: 4
Kaelan isn't able to break through the orc's defenses, but Sydiri's javelin catches it right in the side, poking it with a bloody puncture. The orc response by lashing out in pain and anger at Kaelen with his great axe. Attack: 18 Damage: 12
Fortunately, Kaelen is able to parry the attack with her own weapon.
Seeing things taking a turn for the worst and with the increased threat their guests start to show, Zyllith began to consider how she could turn things around for them. When all else failed, it was time to turn on the charm. Though a bit of theatrics never hurt either.
As they hadn't noticed her, Zyllith hopped to use the opportunity to make a grand entrance. Moving around carefully she placed herself behind Xolkin before making her presence known by resting the tip of her rapier's blade against the man's neck.
"Oy, dun get too full of yerselfs' thar' mate." She spoke to them with a polite and confident smile while at the same time presenting a very directed sense of tolerating their presence. She began speaking using thieves' cant as well to lend some legitimacy to her words. "We know who you all are, and we know why you're all here. We've been polite about it as a professional courtesy, not to mention we've had bigger concerns. I appreciate your efforts, but let me be clear. This town has already been claimed. Your efforts are wasted here. Feel free to assist us, and we can do the same. Or stay here and do nothing while your men die outside. But anything beyond that won't be tolerated. And no matter what else happens, do remember you're being watched at all times."
Arisa, in horror at seeing so many of her companions fall, pushes through her own pain and casts healing word on Vernon, knowing he may have healing abilities to bring the others up.
She heals Vernon for 7 hit points with a word of prayer,
Then she swings her staff at the remaining Orc, with booming blade as well cast as she swings...
17 to hit and 9 damage!
the Orc (if it is still up) is sheathed in booming Energy....
If it’s still there she says “surrender now- your chief is hiding in the woods, your companions are all dead. If you move, you will likely die from my spell.”

Death saving throw : 3
A grand table appears before Osmord, filled with all manner of delectible delights. He reaches out to grasp at some jellied tabaxi brains and his hand passes straight through the table.
"It would appear that you are being called back." the voice observes.
"Well that is a shame, this was a dream to die for. Perhaps we'll meet again?"

Vernon's eyes open just in time to see Arisa land a solid thwack on side of the orc's skull with her staff, and he feels the rush of healing energy swiftly permeate through his body.
Yanking her spear from the chest of the orc that she just killed, Alara lunges forwards once again, aiming to kill the last orc, who seemed to be a bit dazed from Arisa's blow. Attack: 15 Damage: 7. She drives her weapon through the orc's back and Arisa, Vernon and Osmord watch it push all the way through the creature's sternum. It slumps to the ground with not even a whimper, an expression of surprise and horror permanently fixed in its lifeless eyes.
Letting go of the spear, she then turns and kneels down by her fallen companion. "Torem... No!!!"
Meanwhile, the last orc who fell from the bridge, begins climbing back up the supports.
Belkas and Vernon are up.
Zyllith
Xolkin freezes and responds with a very surprised expression as he slowly turns his head about halfway around. Kella pulls a short sword from her belt and turns to face the tiefling, who clearly surpassed them.
Remaining calm, Xolkin answers, also speaking in thieve's can't. "Well well, mate. Ain't you a surprise. Where you been hiding this whole time? You say you got this village all sewed up.... Well then do me a professional courtesy and tell me who exactly is it that's pulling the strings here. Like to know who I'm dealing with, because it seems as we got a simple case of some crossed wires."
Belkas feels his stomach unknot as the tide of the battle seems to have switched in their favor. He moves over to get a clear view of the climbing orc and casts Eldritch Blast with the Repelling Blast Invocation to knock the orc back down.
Still a bit dazed from its tumble off the bridge, the orc isn’t quite able to dodge yet another powerful blast from the warlock. Belkas’s ray of Eldritch energy hits it square on top of the head, knocking back into water, dead.
Arisa will tend to the fallen- (assume Vernon will heal Osmord (Arisa has no healing spells left)). she goes to Torem and attempts to help him with a 16 medicine check. “Is that chief still there? How goes the battle with the shaman?” Arisa asks..
Zyllith replies with a friendly chuckle, still smiling, before she continues speaking with the pair before her. Her voice remaining as casual as any friendly conversation between friends despite the clear lines being drawn. "Haha! Believe me mate, wish whot I could tell ye' all 'bout me boss an' boss's boss. But the'r particular 'bout us keepin' quiet, not unlike yer kin wont ta do. Would be down right rude ta' mention 'em, no' ta' mention 'be singin' me death warrant. But yer lot's smart, sure ye can figure who'd sent about ther' agents pretendin' ta be adventurers. Tell ye' whot. As a courtesy, and cause I like ye', I'll tell ye me an' me friends were sent here outa' City of Splendors. Nae idea who the inside bloke whot stationed 'ere before yer lady friend arrived come from, never met the fella me'self."
Belkas uses Minor Illusion to create the sound of a crowd cheering and clapping. "Bravely fought, everyone."
In response to Arisa's question, he says, "I will go check on our Orc Chief." He then trots back to the tower, a triumphal march ringing out above him.
OOC: assuming that Osmord is getting up on the strength of that Nat 20:
Vernon gets up, looks around, notices that Torem is down, and goes over to him. "You did well, big guy," placing a hand on his shoulder and using another HP of Lay on Hands.
OOC: else,
Vernon gets up, looks around, notices that Osmord is down, and goes over to him. "Now is not the time to die! You don't need to experience it first hand to understand it..." He will put his hand in the same spot he had previously cast Resistance, this time using Lay on Hands for 1HP. If Torem isn't stable at that point, he'll go over and do the first sequence with him.

Osmord stands in a grand hall of black onyx stone. Green flames flicker in the nearby hearth yet give no heat.
"Here so soon?" the voice comes from everywhere at once. It is edged with cold disappointment.
"Apparently so... is there anything to eat? Dying is hard work."
